Unlike most on here I thought overall we played well. We went to a tough place with their team in form and pretty much dominated the game especially in the first half. What cost us the game was poor finishing. Kane had two chances in the first half he should of buried and Son should have scored just before the hour.
If Aurier’s goal stands we deservedly win comfortably. It looked to me that if any part of Son is ahead of the defender it’s his arm which you can’t score with. A ludicrous decision when you cannot definitively decide when the ball is kicked. Common sense says they’re level and the goal stands. When you see other decisions that are clearly wrong not over ruled by VAR because they are not “ clear and obvious errors” then I’m baffled why such tight off sides decisions are over ruled. I’m all for VAR but as it’s being implemented at the moment doesn’t make sense.
Lamela easily MOM. Both Winks and Sissoko were very good.
Neither fullback can cross to save their lives and when they occasionally do nobody takes a chance to run into the 6 yard box!
As usual Poch’s substitutions suck. They make no sense. If Dier is fit enough to be on the bench for the last few games how is he not getting game time? If he’s not fit why not have Skipp in there. Where is this famed blooding of youth we hear about Poch? Manure, Chelsea(!) and Arsenal have all used more youth players than us this season.

You honestly believe that the likes of Son, Kane, Sissoko, Winks don’t want to be here? Yes some missed opportunities in front of goal today, and some attitudes are questionable (we all know who), but there are plenty of players who want to be here. Even Jan who is out of contract at the end of the season has said he would love to stay.
Maybe I had worded it wrong. I should have written about how I feel the players who don't want to be here seem to be having a detrimental effect on the side. No i do not believe Son, Kane, Winks and Sissoko don't want to be here. There are some who don't want to be here and I feel this is effecting performances in a big way. Eriksen, yes he can pull out a pass now and again, but it seems like he has totally given up for us.

Eriksen needs to be benched; play a few hungry youngsters. We just look ‘bored’ as a team. Admittedly, playing at 12.30pm after hitting the UK at a (reported) 4am Thursday morning last probably didn’t help....
then later in the day seeing man city put 8 past Watford - that’s hunger.. where’s ours gone ?

Look, unless they are using at VAR some sort of tech that we don't know about, which determines for them if a player is offside to the tiniest margin (like the goal line technology), then Aurier's goal shouldn't have been overturned. With the evidence shown, there's really no way any human can make a decisve call either way regarding if it was offside or not. I honestly feel we were robbed of 3 points today.

In descending order of culpability:

Pochettino: for not having the balls to say ‘sorry Hugo, you’re paid a fortune, we supported you when others wouldn’t while you became a criminal, now you make a sacrifice for us; for being reactive instead of proactive in his substitutions and taking off two players who were playing well and replacing them with like for like players who dramatically reduced our quality, and not bring on a guy who is scoring regularly until the 86th minute; for persisting with the diamond.

Son: for continued acts of inexcusable selfishness, poor decision making and wastefulness in front of goal.

Kane: ditto on the wasteful finishing, but at the same time I feel harsh considering how well he did dropping deep and holding the ball up, as well as scoring a class goal.

Rose: for being a 29 year old full international who is far more dedicated to his strange press rhetoric (where he unashamedly dilutes the serious issue of mental health by using it as an excuse to spout banality) than he is to learning how to pass and cross; for running around like a headless chicken and exhibiting faux passion but never engaging with the game around him; for playing for himself instead of his team. Bumped down from being third most culpable due to one great saving moment in the box.

That’s that.

Edit: throw Aurier in there too somewhere having just seen the equaliser as well.
Your comment in parenthesis about Danny Rose and mental health is unnecessary and comes across as a gratuitous attack that isn't informed with any actual insight about his situation. Why even go there unless you were just so pissed with his performance and so chose that "as an excuse to spout banality"?

Sure there are plenty of issues going on with Rose, both football and club-related and some outside football altogether. Thought he did ok for most of the game, but got gassed the last 20. That's been the theme with him physically against attacking, non-busparking teams for over a season.

You could actually see his concentration levels drop, heavy legs, wayward passes. I wanted to see him subbed around the 70 minute mark. He'd given his all, and just didn't have much left in the tank.

I agree with you with regard to your criticism of Poch and his subs and game management; Wanyama's intro was a headscratcher, and Moura came on too late to affect the game...and Rose should have been subbed when he was clearly flagging.

Positives for me: Aurier is showing far more composure defensively as a RB, which is great to see. Lamela was the motm imo, gave us shape and urgency both defensively and in attack. Winks too.

Thought we played pretty well for most of the game against a very good team away. They got a draw against Chels away, narrowly lost against Man U away, but could easily have got a result there, beat Bournemouth, and Sheff U away. They'll get some results against the top teams, especially at home, just like they did today.

Son had an off day, made some poor choices with his link-up play and didn't have his shooting boots on. Ndombele showing promising signs as he gets up to speed, both PL fitness and game awareness - we knew it would take time for that to happen.

We ain't going to be challenging for the league this season, still think that's City's to lose however the table looks right now. Top 4 and snag a trophy is the aim for us this season.

Lo Celso, Sessegnon to look forward to, Ndombele getting more acclimated; Dele, Dier, Foyth, KWP returning to fitness. We'll actually have the semblance of an operational squad going forward, which we didn't have last season.

A setback today, but we didn't play badly and could have got a result. We'll get better.

We weren't disastrous , yes we conceded 2 to a good team , but the forwards should've done better .

I agree with the sentiment here that the kids need minutes , their youthful energy could help . Skipp ,Parrott and Tanaka (sp?) plz

absolutely agree. furthermore, if the technician in the VAR studio is making that judgement after minutes of analysis i would say he is corrupt and has been bribed, taking as much time as he possibly can to find any sliver of proof that an offside infringement has ocurred. this simply cannot keep happening, it should be a mechanical process like the goal decision system, cut and dried. as soon as there is the daylight between the passer and the ball a snapshot shot is taken and computer analysis can decide if any part of the body is offside and proof shown.

I see Joe Cole and Crouch got stuck into Aurier on BT sports highlighting passages of play but that was to me a bit unfair.

That was quite predictable us losing again, serious questions should be asked of the partnership of Toby and Vertonghen far to slow and ponderous for my liking. With the ball at their feet both ain't bad but actual defending of late (even going back to last season) has left far too many question. It's time Poch built the defence around Sanchez (IMO he is the best natural defender at the club) and for the next few games if fit Dier need to come into the team.

Gazza. 5 Got off the hook with the first disallowed goal other than that you can't blame him for the goals.

Aurier 6. I thought he was pretty good overall. Yes there were moments his final ball was very poor and to be honest it wasn't up to standard and he was out of position for Leicester first goal but they still had a lot to do before scoring.

Vertonghen. 4 Poor. Sorry guys. I now he's loved. Without a proper defensive midfield player/shield he's far too exposed for pace. Still the best left back at the club- probably needs to be move on.

Toby. 4 He's become a better footballer on the ball however he has got worse at defending just to think he was compared to Van Dijk not to long ago how badly his fallen. I feel the partnership between both he and Vets has been very poor over some time now - a player that needs to be move on.

Rose. 4 Yes he has passion commitment however his quality out wide is not of the standard required - a player that need to move on .

Sissoko- 7 Energy strength all that good stuff off the ball very good professional got stuck in and showed that aggression to win games.

Winks- 7 Good game covered Ndombele covered the pitch unlucky to be playing with this bunch of Tottenham players

Lamela- 7.5 Enjoyed the position he played, got on the ball moved it quickly worked hard off the ball too...can he stay fit? was always a clever player deserved better.

Ndombele- 5 I was not impressed. I must admit. Struggling to close down. Clearly it's going to take him time to adjust to the pace. Was hoping he'd be straight up to speed but might take him a season maybe half a season hopefully a quarter of a season if we're lucky he did get better as the game went on so.

Son- 4 Thats the problem with Son. He blows hot and cold, just like Moura. Did nothing all game and made the wrong decision time again.

Kane- 8 Worked his socks off I felt. Brilliant goal. I hope Dele Alli can get back to form quickly without being under pressure or pulling up a hamstring

Poch. Question will be asked now, the pressure is on and voices are becoming louder and fair enough as many non Spurs pose a valid question about us moving forward. That as side I felt team selection on paper / circumstance was probably right . I do feel now it's time for Dier Sanchez Alli to be introduced into the team and possibly some development players . At this moment far to many players ain't good enough
Joe Cole sounded xenophobic claiming that “the English lads were holding Spurs together”. Whilst he made a valid point about Aurier not getting back in position for the first goal, both Rose and Ndombele were culpable as well.

Mixed bag really. Collectively very good for the majority and very bad in small phases. The Son offside was pivotaly and caused a huge momentum shift that I don't think we have the mentality to deal with. I'd liken it to the CL penalty which seemed to totally deflate us. Odd subs from Poch (what's new?) but Sissoko was on thin ice with the crowd howling for a red card. Skipp was very good in pre season but strangely doesn't get a look in. Winks MOM for me, just edging out Lamela. A huge part of our problems though is lack of awareness from our forwards who are all glory hunting at the moment and letting the team down in the process.

I think the game shows how far Leicester has come; they are a top-6 team. I don't think we are worse than before, just that they are alot better.

I think we can safely say now that our FBs are not top-6 standard. I think we will struggle if we continue to play the way we tend to play (FBs-reliant to move ball forwards); it's not playing to our strength. We need to figure out how to move the ball to our forwards better; Kane is dropping off too much.

Aside from that everyone else pretty much covered everything. PL now has 2 teams that is alot better than everyone else. At least 8 teams are capable of getting the remaining 4 spots so top-4 is getting harder for us.

we definitely are. on paper we might be no weaker but come on, over the past half a season our form would have us lower mid-table and that's not because a couple of teams might have improved.

as a bed wetter in chief I seem to be in a small minority today. The finest of margins in all my years watching football denied us an excellent victory and second in the table. Yes, I don't like nD on the left of a diamond, Poch's subs, and yearn for a pair of less erratic FBs,
and the long term form trend has us all worried but now is not the time to shit ourselves.

But the next two are very very important for Poch and the squad.

PMd as don’t want to open up a public can of worms.

It’s completely possible his wife had a protracted labour and he hadn’t slept for some time, which would have made him a liability anyway

True. Just frustrated with Pochettino generally so finding every stick I can, regardless of size, to get my point across.

From my perspective, i would never start Winks and Sissoko together, do not consider an England Cap as a badge of quality (what have England won in the last fifty years) and forever want to return to our best and most successful system of 4-2-3-1

Not starting Moura is criminal and i'd like to see Dier given a run of games, i mean we couldn't possibly be any worse could we?

Just what I was going to post - we seemed to lack the desire in certain areas of the pitch when compared to Leicester.

Skipp or Dier should have gone on instead of Wanyama - I doubt Poch will make that mistake again in a PL match.

Some young hungry blood needs to be given some chances Tanganga, Skipp, Parrott (alongside Kane) etc.

Eriksen seems to be marking time to me, given Saturday’s performance I just hope Lamela can stay fit and is given a run in the middle - he certainly seemed to be pulling the strings very effectively and his commitment is never in doubt.

Unfortunately there seems to be a few key players through the spine of the team that just seem to have lost the desire - I don’t know if this is a result of the CL final defeat.

No one that is not 100% committed to the cause should be played - we need a few Graham Roberts that ‘would run through brick walls for Spurs’!

Exactly this! - i just can't understand what it is that's either demotivating them or if there is a divide in the dressing room, what's causing it?
You'd think reaching a CL final (against all odds) would drive them on to do it again and show the world it wasn't a fluke.
But instead something horrible has happened between then and now.

Looking at the Leicester game, granted we didn't look too bad - but we simply haven't progressed, especially when you compare us directly to Liverpool and Man City.
Has Poch had enough?
Has he run out of ideas?
Or are players simply not believing in him anymore?

I'm lost!

I'm hoping adding LoCelso to the mix will spark some new life to this team. Lamela is looking very promising lately, but we don't know how much that's going to last given his past fitness issues.

The Lamela-Son partnership is looking very exciting lately, hopefully Moura and Dele can become a part of that as well.

We've all moved on from that result however reading your post , I truly feel we need a refreshment of players coming in (Clarke Lo Celso Ndombele Sessesgnon and some others ) and players need to leave ie Vertonghen Toby Eriksen Wanyama Rose maybe two others. Work to be done.
