Hopefully the first of many.

Dier, Sissoko, Rose, Skipp, Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Eriksen all expiring by July 2021, the latter three next season.

Overall a decent window I think. Back near the start of the window, the talk was Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, plus a young project forward (which turned out to be Clarke). All we’re unrelated to Eriksen's situation. Mission accomplished.
Then we had the possibility of a Tier 1 player like Coutinho or Dybala, which then kind of took the gloss of what was actually a pretty decent window.
Ultimately, we kept Toby, Rose and Eriksen, for now, so definitely come out stronger.

Well if we was trying to sign dybala shows we have money to spend, by Christmas we can assess the squad and strengthen in January if we need to, I know poch prefers not to buy in January but it may help us. But I am very happy with our summer business. Mainly as levy has delivered Pochettino’s targets

I think there’s an argument for bringing in a couple more in January if we can. Not necessarily to make an instant impact, but perhaps more to start the integration ahead of the summer.
Understanding people say there is no value to be had in the January window, it depends where we are looking. Those coming out of contract can be picked off for nominal fees, in the way Holtby was, or those out of favour in the way Moura was.
Fullback, Centreback and AM/WF area. These areas will require work next summer based on contracts running down etc. Some of these could be solved within, Foyth/KWP stepping up at RB, Sessegnon hitting the ground running as a LB option, Sanchez stepping out of Toby’s shadow to make himself an unquestionable starter, and then Tanganga showing he has the skills to step into the gap behind Sanchez. Clarke showing on loan his development and progression is still on the same steep curve. Parrot my showing he can handle minutes as an effective backup.

Still some room to add to that, but I do believe getting someone in January with an eye on them being ready for the summer.

Lucas Moura new contract to 2024, from
Official site

Here’s a point to illustrate what I was saying above. He had a sluggish start after his arrival Jan 18, but hit the ground running after the summer.

FWIW, I do think Eriksen will settle down if he doesn’t get his move, and potentially sign a new deal with a release clause which suits him and us.

Every summer window throws up an irrational individual meltdown. We had the guy a couple of seasons ago who lost his mind over hidden text he couldn’t read.

It’s a jungle in here during the windows and some of us never return home the same
Do you remember the guy who argued with me non stop for a month because I said Mason was available for transfer, but he was apparently a friend of the family and Poch had told him he was building the team around him?

Lol

Wow, that's uncomfortable. I used to be an insider for Florida Gators (American) football very similar to what you do now and I once shared info about us targeting and expecting to land another big time Quarterback recruit, and the father of the currently committed quarterback freaked out and almost decommitted to Urban Meyer. It was Cam Newton and his dad was furious because they were promised no other QB signings. Of course I was right and I guess you were too. Always fun. (if I am speaking another language to some of you I am sorry, but this was all another language to me 10 years ago :) )

I remember Cam decommitted over another QB(coaches promise that stuff and break them all the time. Its par for the course). Think it worked out best for him anyway.

No he kept his commitment and got kicked out of school for stealing a laptop. LOL. Yes, it worked out for him because he was never getting a chance over Tebow and he wanted to play immediately. The other QB we took was a legacy (John Brantley) and he went on to be awful.

Ah right. Then he went to Auburn after a JUCO stint and won the heisman and the title

I didn't mean to derail the thread, but people should definitely appreciate that part about ITK and what they share and why. Every ITK wants to share info. That said, they need to weigh all of the unintended consequences of doing so and some of it is not just other clubs getting intel, but to @Trix point you can unsettle your own squad if certain expectations or promises were set or you can contribute to scuppering another deal that the team is working on.

Given his dedication to Spurs, and to reporting on Spurs, I think this thread is as good as any to wish a happy birthday to @Allygold ... i joined SC because in my search for any Spurs news I stumbled across his musings some 15 years ago and I’m sure I’m not the only one, so I could well not have the privilege of enjoying this amazing transfer and itk forum had it not been for him. Many happy returns old bean.
