In popular parlance it's called
getting your retaliation in first
or a as Danny Blanchflower once said
''Equalising before the other team score''

I don't sing it or chant it
or stand up if I hate Arsenal
because that's not why I go to football matches.

These are not chelsea or west ham fans asking us to stop singing it. Its the World Jewish Congress. If u wanna carry on and sing it then continue being ignorant. The whole point of this survey and the question being raised is because it's wrong and we will have to eventually stop.

The next step on the way to becoming a soul less corporate entity. Next step no chanting in the stadium followed by shirt and tie only and then introducing a rule banning the lower and middle classes.

I got mine today & agree us not using it is unlikely to stop others from racially abusing Spurs fans.

I also pointed out that we started using it in the 80's in response to an article written by Ken Bates in which he used the word to try and denigrate us, but both Jewish & non Jewish took it up as a chant in form of solidarity with one another.

I completed the survey and to be honest would be quite happy if we stopped using it. I personally don't have strong views either way but if it upsets a decent proportion of our Jewish fans then let's just stop singing it. It will not make any difference whatsover on what opposing fans think but who gives a shit about them anyway.

Can see both sides of the argument to be honest. I don’t think there’s really a right answer to this, but if more and more people are seeing it as racist, then we have to accept that at the end of the day. It doesn’t stop the other fans slinging vile chants at us, but neither do I think that it encourages it.

Yeah that's the next step for sure. If you can't say a word with historical abusive context.

They'll let women into matches soon, mark my words. It wouldnt happen if Jim Bowen was still around .

Exactly. I sing it, I say it but ultimately if it is proving troublesome to the club then it's no skin off my nose. It's a word we use sometimes. It doesn't define the club.

Let's be honest most of us would probably not start with 'yid this, yid that' in work and many other non-Spurs social settings so that probably tells you something.

It's a biased survey completely loaded to get us to vote against the use of the word. None of my Jewish mates are offended, quite the contrary.

That ship sailed years ago. Is what it is.

rubbish, there is no offence to Jewish fans... and any contrary comments I would be surprised... spurs fans sing the Y word with love
Erm wut? I’m Jewish and in complete support of continued Yid chants. Nayim is trying to play saviour and using a inconsequential group to argue his nonsense point.

I commented that they were surveying the wrong people and should target the views of the Jewish supporters

In my experience, Jewish Tottenham fans, and Jews in general, especially the ones I met in Madrid, seem to have no issue with it. Quite the opposite actually!

The guys in Madrid, not even football fans, absolutely loved it. They were amazed when I explained the situation to them. They loved the idea of 60k Tottenham fans chanting Yid army!

Then just answer it honestly. I did.

One word responses to complex issues are never satisfying. But rather than try to figure out where they might be trying to direct me, I've just answered honestly. Whether they are the answers the club wants or not, I do not know. But I'm more than happy to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are gathering information, without trying to buttress an established position - either way. Maybe I'm naïve, but it is what it is - and my answers are what they are - I'm pro-yid.
