Some of you need to realise transfers are far more complicated than going down your local corner shop and buying a packet of sweets. Yes I used sweets as the metaphors on purpose because I think some of you will relate to it on far better level.

It's very somple really. There was money to spend but we couldn't get the players Poch wanted as such he decided he'd rather wait. No one to blame just how it was. In the same way no one is blaming Betis for anything. All they are doing is trying to maximise their asset.

High level football transfers are incredibly complicated. Especially when you have a budget, and only want top end players. I know it doesn't seem it but I can assure you it's the same for every team. I'm honestly of the opinion now that you'd probably be best not being told what's going on as far as the day to day stuff is concerned because as soon as something doesn't go the way some of you want it's toys out the pram time even though with these things it can easily change back within hours.

*Not specifically aimed at the post I quoted.

That’s all very well Trix but I remember the days when You could buy a qtr of Lemon Drops and 10 Rothmans “for my mum”all for less than 50pence and they wouldn’t squint an eye lid. Why can’t chairmen be like Corner Shop Brenda?!

think you mentioned it in another thread about wasting your time because some don't listen. they look at announced profits, hear news of a player we are after and expect the flick of a switch/button like on football manager. you also have the trolls that will drum up their views on our club, and hope to be right so they can continue.

even if Lo Celso and Sess get done they will still have their views that Levy hasn't really backed Poch. also if all the whingers were to be our owners then we would do a Leeds, don't think they understand to of got Lo Celso early, we would of most probably had to meet his buy out clause, and to do that would of meant not getting Sess and might of even hampered Ndombele.

This is what I said. A lot can change from day 1 to day 2 and still people get so upset when things take longer time or doesn't happen.

It is 1 thing I'm wondering (not a question to itk but more generally)

If we had money last summer (say 100m) and we this year again played CL and even went to final shouldn't we have more money to spend this summer ? Or did the (100m) from last year "disappear " ?

Because for me if you are logical it should be last season + this season's money to spend on transfers

Thank you for all the info you give Trix ! Hope you and rest if ITK have a wonderful afternoon

I'm glad TN was eventually signed, but even that signing took what seemed like an eternity. I'm confident that we will sign GLC, but what good does it do if we're able to save 5 million by waiting until the last week of the window.

Didn't we sign him a few days after he reported back to pre season?

What I find truly incredible is the fact that all summer long we had clearly identified 2 top priority signings in TN and GLC, 2 players for whom we are the only club who have been seriously in for. Aside from fleeting interest for other clubs, there has been no competition for their signatures. No one has bid aside from us. But yet we seem to dawdle, and drag this on forever.

We have just come out as CL runners up, and yet this is how we continue to do business. Where is the 'big club' mentality? When we signed TN, I wanted to believe that we've turned a corner, but based on the evidence this window, nothing seems to have changed.

My biggest concern is what Poch will make of this window, regardless of us signing GLC and Sess. He has been crying out loud for the past 2 seasons about signings to be done early so he can plan effectively for the season ahead and despite his protestations it seems like it has had zero effect on Levy.
May I point you in the direction of Trix’s last post

Firstly big club mentality = pay whatever it takes???

Well let's look at that shall we and use GLC as a test subject.

We agree a fee everything's set, medical planned, etc. Then Betis decide to raise the price by 10%. Well we're a big club now with a big club mentality so Levy gets on the blower and says "no problem. Sod the budget, or that we need other players too. We're a big club now so here is your extra 5mil."

The Betis chairman is delighted, and says "wow you are a big club, perhaps you'll pay another 5mil on top of that?"

Then the Fulham chairman see's were now a a "big club" and decides to double the price for Sess, because hey big clubs just pay what it takes to get deals done, right?

Lol, don't forget however "big" we might get as long as Levy's in charge we'll always be well run as far as the financials are concerned.

All true... But we need these reinforcements! Not doing these transfers is NOT an option, if you ask me.

Our top 4 spot is under serious threat. We must give Poch the tools he asks for to do the job. If it means taking a hit on some cherished principles, as well as financially, then so be it...

These are no longer deals done with a cigar, hand shake and £15m. They are highly complex multi million pound business deals with high stakes. It’s not uncommon in these kinds of deals for one side to walk away in an attempt to force the other sides hand or to make changes if they feel they are getting a raw deal based on new information. Just like buying a house, until it’s signed and sealed anything can happen and there are no rules..

Love your posts Trix. I have followed Spurs for 30 years. I am very optimistic for the future and im glad Levy builds a club for the future so I can enjoy the club with my son and hopefully with my grandson if im lucky. Your posts is a positive influence during the day. All i know is that i will still see the matches with players like bunjecevic, toda, freund, dembele or Hoddle or whoevers play. Thanks.

Not been on much cos away and poor reception - probably just as well, or I’d be as downbeat as some on here.
Poch not being backed? Deals falling through? I really read the itk as very different. I reckon GLc & sess will get sorted - based on the majority of itk we’ve had thus far. Let’s not forget that being privvy to ‘sensitive’ info via itk always puts us - somewhat - in a more precarious situation when there’s a ‘twitch’ in negotiations. The majority here are not equipped to really know the nuances of transfers and the posturing between all parties. I’m still feeling entirely positive that Poch will be backed. If we sign more than these two then brilliant; if not, then we don’t. It’s not as if spurs haven’t been proactive in their pursuit of new players. I’m not pro or anti levy, but I’ve felt good rumblings from those that provide us with ITK in here.
I have every faith in ITKs. I don’t hear most doubting ITKs info.
That isn’t the problem, is it?
Whoever is involved in the dealings and to-ings and fro-ings and putting pens to papers have the ship in their hands, is that not so?

Premier league elite clubs are wising up to Europe now. Betis are ‘almost’ in a financial mess, caused by themselves. We had a very firm agreement. And for the second time they reneged on their own agreement, and for the second time mind. We had an agreement before we signed TN. We refused to deal after they started to play games with invisible clubs, who were never interested. We decided to pursue and finalise ND, and GLC should of been done first with ND, not long thereafter.

Our offer has not changed, and it is actually close to ND, but not the same. Our offer will not change. And Trix gave gave a brilliant illustration on what happens if we bend. Medical was booked etc. Let them come back with their tail between their legs, because there is ZERO interest at they imaginative price. Not withstanding how they got Fekir for the price they got him. I wonder who assisted on that deal. The last two windows they messed us around with VJ. I will let this out the bag deliberately! A very interesting volatile meeting with Betis me thinks on Tuesday.

I am very confident. And it goes for Sess. We are not giving away Josh, and the other player of ours that they are interested in. And still wanting circa 30m for Sess, along with that. Let’s see if the media pick that up, and my phantom ghost on Twatter (arsehole).

Can moaners now shut the fuck up about Levy. It’s crystal clear Betis are pissing about. I suggest we all cup Hercules’ nads for the next 11 days in a show of fraternal solidarity

Confused the fuck out of me when TN went to ND.
