There's a hell of a difference between a pre-season friendly and competing in the premiership. No need to rush the kid. He should get plenty of minutes in the cups this season and see where he goes from there.
No kidding Sherlock. I agree with your post but I still maintain my stance. Pre season friendly or not, he has improved massively in both confidence and application.

Yep. Sometimes you just see a player and know he's good, pre season or not. Many years ago I was at St.Andrews for a pre season friendly when i saw our new signing Berbatov volley in from a corner. Like Kanes goal on Sunday, it didn't matter that it was pre season, the technique and vision was special.

Skipp did things on Sunday that he didn't do last season, he hinted at being able to do some of the things but imo lacked confidence in himself - and no surprise given his age. Looks like last season has really made a man of him. A massive plus for us and great that him and Winks are proper Spurs kids.

Agree that he looked very mature. We already know Poch must rate him very highly. Wouldn't it be great if Luis Binks also made it into the first team then we could have our own home grown Winksy, Binksy and Skippy!

I've watched his highlights again, reminds me of a young Stevie G when he came through. Playing it simple as a DM but being able play and bring the ball forward with the trait of them both lacking a conventional aesthetically pleasing football technique.

And not sure I’d down these as “just” friendlies. It’s not Barnet it was still a senior juventus team with no kids.

Amazing what happens when a player is given time to develop
I am not even sure what this is in response to - but its also amazing when a player puts his head down, works hard, and takes his chances when they present themselves.

This thread, and the rest of social media tbf about Skipp, continues to be gold. A proper showcase of the myopic inconsistent kneejerk fucktardedness that you get from football fans.

Dare I say, he reminds me a bit of Roy Keane in his playstyle. He doesn't really fit into the modern cms you see, he's got a lot of defensive qualities but I wouldn't pigeon hole him into a DM, he has a little more expansiveness without necessarily the dribbling ability of dembele, ndombele. He has more traits similar to the Keane/Viera era of a box to box midfielder for me swaying towards the keane side.
After watching that highlights package he made several nice off the ball runs forward that could have resulted in something had the play broken differently. I hadn't noticed it when I initially watched the game, but several times he would move the ball and immediately make a hard run to the channels - Those types of things are going to pay off.

Really liked his energy overall, especially considering he played the most out of anyone on either team (goalkeepers excluded) in the sweltering heat when others were looking somewhat lethargic and sluggish.

The fact is the old trope of "you can only play what's in front of you" applies here and he did that and knocked it out of the park. If he continues it in these other friendlies I see no reason why Poch shouldn't trust him with meaningful minutes.

I really like his awareness. He seems to see the space and definitely looks to expand the play.
I didn't see him at all as a DM. Like to see how he can create from whatever position.
Actually seeing him and Winks for domestic cup games will be good.Throw in Tanganga as a CB,Davies and a Lamela and maybe another seasoned player and let them go for the cups

Last season I thought he was a bit meh. Looked out of his depth and would be the next Tom Carroll, in other words not quite good enough for what we as a club needed.

Seeing him play on Sunday against Juventus I have to take it all back. He was a different player, turned into a beast. Probably drank the same elixir as Sissoko!! I hope it isn't a false dawn and he continues in this vain.

Honestly I deff saw something in him from the beginning.Unlike Winks who played contained when he started,I think Skipp was looking to make things happen. He did look not strong enough for the rigours of defence but his vision was good as his confidence was.
