Which would suggest they want to keep him then, contrary to ITKs who say they want him outIt’s not as perverse as it sounds. The objective, if the release clause isn’t triggered, is to prevent him from leaving.
Not for 25k.
Noooo... the objective is to wrap up the deal, get the full release clause, and plough money into a replacement. It’s not as perverse as it sounds. The objective, if the release clause isn’t triggered, is to prevent him from leaving.
Agreed. Straight out of the 'Trotter guide to business'If they aint meeting the release clause they aint paying higher. Non story.
That can’t be, because until the release clause expires, the only way anyone would offer more is if there is more than one bidder.Noooo... the objective is to wrap up the deal, get the full release clause, and plough money into a replacement.
I haven’t seen any ITK on the matter. But why would anyone offer more than £25m before someone else has offered £25m? At present, raising the price is a deterrent to offers.Which would suggest they want to keep him then, contrary to ITKs who say they want him out

Ah, that is a good explanation. I was thinking that it didn't make much sense to jack up the price when clubs weren't willing to stump up 25 million. I'm surprised that it hasn't been triggered yet.Basically when the buyout expires we wont have enough time to replace him before the window shuts.. It's the reason the buyout expires. So we will turn down bids that are not huge.
