I think CE said what he did in the hope RM or Barca would automatically swoop in. This didn't happen so he's staying put.

Has a player ever publicly stated he wants a new challenge before going on to sign a new contract a few weeks later?
I’m sure it has happened before, but it seems like such a weird move for Eriksen. If he wants a new challenge then why would he sign a new contract?

I love how everyone lists out all our players and questions who will play and where. How many times last season did we have everyone available? Once? Twice? We need a group of 20 players that are all good enough to play and ensure the quality doesn’t drop. Would also allow us to play those in form rather than keep playing the likes of Ali when he is totally off it

Well it was lucky he got to climb down off the fence he was sitting on then.Read the interview again.
Can't argue with that!Well obviously I hope you're right but the big clubs are in for the best players and he's discovered they don't want him, as you say in his prime. There's a tendency for fans to over-rate their own players, Eriksen is good but a fair way off the elite.
He also said that he would be happy to stay.

Just read the interview again. He’s says it would ‘not be something negative to stay’, which is not quite the same as saying it would make him happy.
He also says he would ‘like to try something new’, twice.
I don’t think he’ll sign personally, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
I predict they'll have more injuries this season and Klopp will get flak for not signing anyone (if they dont)It will be interesting to see how Mane copes this season. He's still on AFCON duty three weeks before the start of their season.
