Would be awesome news and add Lo Celso and perhaps Sessegnon and if im greedy add a forward which I doubt

Oh and keep Toby (and Rose - which is unlikely)

and we will win the damn league

This would be absolutely amazing!

If we then signed Lo Celso on top of this we would finally have the creative depth and quality we’ve needed.

It would also allow Lo Celso time to bed in without the pressure of having to hit the ground running, which would increase the chances of him being a success here.

Has a player ever publicly stated he wants a new challenge before going on to sign a new contract a few weeks later?

I’m sure it has happened before, but it seems like such a weird move for Eriksen. If he wants a new challenge then why would he sign a new contract?

Watching him and Poch play keepy ups yesterday and then the warm embrace after didn't look like a player who was going to be ostracized or was unhappy about staying at the club.

Read the interview again.

I love how everyone lists out all our players and questions who will play and where. How many times last season did we have everyone available? Once? Twice? We need a group of 20 players that are all good enough to play and ensure the quality doesn’t drop. Would also allow us to play those in form rather than keep playing the likes of Ali when he is totally off it

It’s like some people just never learn, truly bizarre. Last season it was a ridiculous joke how light our squad was. Now they don’t want us to sign GLC because it would mean some players not making the bench. Deary me! We desperately need strength in depth, we need more quality, it’s not the other way around!

Did he not state he would like a new challenge and if they did not happen then he would have to see what DL had to offer

Well obviously I hope you're right but the big clubs are in for the best players and he's discovered they don't want him, as you say in his prime. There's a tendency for fans to over-rate their own players, Eriksen is good but a fair way off the elite.
Can't argue with that!

If Eriksen commits then it allows that room to transition/ start of a new chapter whilst maintaining the creativity, assists we know he can provide. Makes me less worried that shifting established integrated players (Rose, Trips and poss Toby) would have the impact it might if Eriksen left as well.

If we do bring in Lo Celso it allows him some time to adapt whilst we maintain the levels we are used to.

Eriksen is in the top 20 assist in premier League history (60 total). Regardless of how he played last season replacing that is always going to be a tall order. This would be the perfect situation.

There was nothing wrong with what Eriksen said in his thing really. Nothing compared to Modric, he was respectful as anything and said it wouldn't be bad to stay. If he signs a new deal, we could have him for an extra few years and that'd be better than any signing we can make.

Still want Lo Celso though, so Wanyama and Janssen can beat it, as much as I'll miss Wanyama.

He also said that he would be happy to stay.

Just read the interview again. He says it would ‘not be something negative to stay’, which is not quite the same as saying it would make him happy.

He also says he would ‘like to try something new’, twice.

I don’t think he’ll sign personally, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

I see what you’re saying and you could be right but we’re not city we can’t have elite level players on the bench unless you pay them elite level wages to keep them happy.

You also can’t say look at our injuries last season as some kind of indication of how many injuries we’ll get this year. Look at Liverpool last year.

Lastly, and I love Poch, but he’s had opportunities to drop Ali, Son or Eriksen in previous years when they’ve been in poor form and play Lamela or Moura and he’s chosen not to.

The general rule for a lot of clubs is 2 good options for each position. For clubs like us that tends to be 1 starter and 1 back up. For clubs like city you can genuinely afford 2-3 top class, elite level players in each position. I don’t think we’re in a position where, if we get lucky with injuries, that we can keep your Sons and Mouras happy with limited playing time.

I agree I don't think he will either and I'm not sure I can massively blame him. When players like Ramsey are getting 400k pw and moving to elite clubs just because they are "free" it must be tempting as a player to set your family up for life. Not like you have to go to China nowadays to earn crazy money

It will be interesting to see how Mane copes this season. He's still on AFCON duty three weeks before the start of their season.
I predict they'll have more injuries this season and Klopp will get flak for not signing anyone (if they dont)

Ndombele and Sissoko "behind" Eriksen will not give him any better platform than playing in front of Winks and Sissoko.

Signing another creative player like Lo Celso would free up Eriksen as all the pressure would no longer be on him. At thr same time it's harder for a defense to mark 2 players. Similar to how City operate with Silva/KdB.
