I'm assuming because we would think Everton would want an absurd fee for him.

Which I personally would agree with.
Assuming we would be providing Rose in the other direction or be supplementing some of the deal with some of the Rose money to another club I doubt it would be obscene.

Out of curiosity, why?
Because signing players that start for premier league teams is always a long, expensive process. Not to mention Everton are particularly flush with cash and he only joined a year ago.

I think some major groundwork must have been done already if it were possible with three weeks left.

That's fair but I doubt the 3 weeks makes much difference if they want Rose as part of the deal. Assuming they don't then it does become a messy everyone down the line has to buy a replacement before we can get our man. Also not sure Everton are flush with cash? They certainly spent large numbers last two windows but they always had at least one sale to balance the books.

I think you're massively overvaluing rose at this point. I think you'd be looking at 30mil at least as well. I just don't think Everton have any need or desire to sell, could be totally wrong.

You'll struggle to name a player that 'easily' left for a bigger club from within the league. Maguire, AWB, Zaha, Mahrez, Richarlison, Wilson. All mid table players that either didn't move despite interest or did move, but it took ages and a LOT of cash.

Zero way this will happen. Wan Bissaka has inflated the price for all prem fullbacks. Plus there is no reason for Everton to sell. Makes zero sense for them to downgrade to an aging injury prone left back.

What makes you think negotiations just started? If the original article came out early June, it’s probably safe to bet this has been in the works for awhile. Probably hush hush to avoid complicating things for both teams

I don't ffs. Literally the last bloody sentence you responded to makes that very clear. I THINK SOME MAJOR GROUNDWORK MUST HAVE BEEN DONE ALREADY.

If we lose Danny rose, Digne is the best andost realistic full back we can get, will cost a decent chunk of change + rose but we'll worth it, pochs system needs his full backs to create and as much as we love Danny his end product in non existent, Digne will be a superb addition and with trippier and maybe erisken off haveing another set piece expert certainly would be nice excited by this one

This feels like a difficult to do deal at this point.

100%

I like him as a player but Everton won’t want to sell. It would take a massive bid and you’d think Rose would be part of it. There must be easier targets to obtain.

Which makes it seem strange we’ve just agreed a deal for Trippier (whose international reputation is fairly intact after playing in the WC SF and then the CL SF) for just £20M. Especially when Athletico are flush with the Griezmann money. Maybe Tripper is moving for a lot more ?

Athletics had already spent the Griezman money on Joao Felix, and bought in 2 other defenders

Pay release clauses. He did sign a kid who had a decent season for 126mil. He must be charming, I'll give him that.
Yeah, I read an interesting article (in the Guardian, I think) which basically argued that Athletico have had to change the way they operate as they are a “big club” now. The need to replace Griezman was so great that they’ve gambled on Joso Felix and once identified, they just had to suck it up and pay the money.

Another one, Like Lo Celso, we could have got last summer for sensible money as their respective clubs were desperate to sell yet we stood still scratching our balls ?

Like others have said, he didn't exactly rip it up at any other clubs. We can't just sign players based on potential. Same for Lo Celso. Sometimes you have to let players move to other clubs, where they do play, to see their quality.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Hmmm, a bit like Poch's call to arms to Daniel.
