Weren't there rumours earlier on about some people not being happy with his attitude at the club... Out of the JJ someone we don't suspect who might leave, it could well be Rose. There is logic to it. Sessegnon is likely to come in, Rose is much older than Davies with significant injury problems who has a bad habit of saying what he actually thinks to the press. It's not too out there to imagine he might be one to leave.

With possibility of ie:these players being moved on , the whole of the defence could be changed.

Hugo: too many costly errors this season , (apart from the penalty saves ) .
Toby leaving - burnt his bridges it seems , would love him to stay , best defender by far .
Rose - attitude , injuries, fitness,age.
Davies - not good enough at Left back ,injuries .good CB back up.
Jan- in the wrong age bracket apparently, ( still do a job in my eyes )
Sanchez - still raw , will poch run out patience? Prone to silly mistakes and doesn’t focus for 90 mins .pace✅
Foyth : raw , still learning , I think poch will give him one more season imo.
KWP : maybe championship level at best , maybe I’m being harsh .
Dier : At CB not good enough ,even if part time .

Overall this summer for the defence I think .

It’s easy to blame the defence but the players we have are predominantly the same players whom excelled for the 3 previous seasons. What’s changed is Rose hasn’t been the same since his injury, we lost our pacy right back and replaced him with Trippier (lol) and a crock in Aurier. We’ve had no stability at right back all season and chopping and changing at left back. The biggest impact is in central midfield as we’ve gone from having two beasts in Wanyama and Dembele, players whom project the defence meaning their weaknesses don’t get exposed to having a mixture of an excellent albeit exhausted Sissoko, an injury ravaged Winks, a permanently broken Wanyama and an injured/grossly out of form Dier. It’s central midfield that killed us last season.

I’m a bit sceptical of Digne.

Was a highly rated prospect for awhile but wasn’t able to put it together at PSG or at Barcelona. This has probably been one of his best ever seasons.

That said he does seem to flash rather than be consistent. I worry he’s a bit of a MOTD player and people are using that as a reason to buy him rather than consistently watching Everton games (where his play isn’t very consistent).

I think Digne won players player and fans player of the year at Everton, not sure that players would be swayed by MOTD

Things don't work out at other clubs for a number of reasons! Playing time, style, quality of teammates.. Culture? Fitness? Manager? Poch seems to have the tools to bring the best out of most of the players he has managed so far. We shouldn't worry to much about the past they have but just believe Poch will give them what they need to grow if they have not always got it going elsewhere.

I know 2 die hard Everton fans who think he's the dogs testicles. I haven't watched much Everton myself but his stats are solid enough .

I'd rather see Sessegnon come in for a year, learn the ropes and for Poch to get a really good look at him as to if he has a future at left back or left wide forward.

Digne seems like a good player but he doesn't do it for me at the level I see the club at these days

And Pickford won both those awards the year before. Doesn’t mean I rate him tremendously.

Heck I remember Dawson winning player of the year for us.

Doesn’t mean these rewards should be discarded. He has clearly had a good season. He’d be a good signing but would cost a lot. Therefore could we sign better for that money?

P.s Dawson is the man.

We had the chance to sign him when Everton did. Now he would cost too much for it to be worth it anyway. Moving on to other options.

I think the Sessegnon point is an important one here. Recognising, of course, that we've actually yet to sign him, but...

For me, if we think Sess will never make it as a left back, fine. Let's look at alternatives, but...

...I always felt the plan (for no particular reason other than it seems sensible) was that Sessengon would be slowly introduced to the team. Depending on the opposition, in AM, LM and LWB, possibly LB...before establishing himself, as Rose wound down, at LB/LWB.

There's a certain sense in all that. Signing Digne would significantly change that IMO. Not saying it's wrong, only that it would change the above plan (which by the way, may be nonsense)

Again still sceptical about consistency and being a purple patch. People were clamouring for Joshua King after he had a purple patch of a season.

If Danny is to go, I really like the idea of Digne as his replacement. Adds to our French contingent, and is the perfect Pochettino full-back - a feisty, aggressive wee fucker with good technical ability and delivery.

Struggle to see Everton letting him go though. We’d need to make it worth their while, and he’d need to make it very clear to them he wanted the move.
