No way we'd do that deal. Maybe as a way of fluffing up the Eriksen fee is the only way I'd see it happening.

The dream would be Bale and Ceballos on loan with an option.

Part of me thinks Levy would love to work something out with Barnett and bring him back, but I also trust the ITK we've had ruling this out emphatically.

Half? Try a quarter.

I’d say a third.

I’m still on the fence on whether I’d even want him back. He was a young, marauding athlete when he was with us, and even then he had a lot of injuries. But then again, the idea of a squad comprising of Kane, Bale, Dele, Moura, Son, and Ndombele is pretty formidable.

As much of a pipe dream as this is we need another consistent match winner if we’re serious about going for the title. NDombele is an immense signing but we need another 2-3 plus squad upgrades elsewhere if we’re planning on pushing City and Liverpool.

Simply can't see this happening. It goes against everything levy and poch stand for. Levy is dedicated to financial prudence. Poch is a strong believer in team chemistry and commitment. Buying bale for $60m and paying him $200k a week, and then potentially upsetting the team's internal dynamics... just doesn't seem remotely probable.

The only way it works is a one or two year loan deal, and he gets paid as much as Kane. But even then, there are risks. When it comes to on and off-field alchemy, it's best to err on the side of sticking to what works. While there considerable is upside to having a player like Bale come into the squad (veteran experience, commercial opportunities, etc), it can be quickly offset by player unrest should he start to ruffle some feathers. That said, it could also work out. But then we go back to Levy -- he's not one to take big financial risks. And Bale is virtually swaddled in a red flag at this point in his career.

I can't see how getting bale and putting him on 200k a week would upset the squad, after all it's not like he hasn't earnt it with the numerous trophies he's won with Madrid. It's only injuries that has stopped him being better than he currently is. I think if we were to get bale then it would tell the squad that we mean business.

Pochettino, I agree with you. But it’s pretty clear Levy would be very keen to bring Bale back if it was at all financially feasible. I just doubt it will be.

Marca is Real's mouthpiece and Real used Marca to turn Bale and Modric's head. So I can certainly see this being true. However, there is no way we will give him £300k/wk. It's not just 1 300k/wk contract. It's at least 2 and maybe more as we'd have to give Kane that much and maybe Lloris and Dele. Would really break our wage structure dramatically and I dont think we have the finances to do that just yet. I can see £200k/wk though.

Coupled with the fact that Bale doesn't appear to have an abrasive personality. He comes across as fairly humble, somewhat quiet and not your typical superstar (a bit like Harry).

I don't think the stories are true, but I wouldn't have any concerns about bringing him back if the financial aspect was sensible, and I trust Levy on that front.

Im guessing we've reached the stage where Real realise that Bale will be there next year, absorbing ridiculous wages and stinking up the place, if they don't push it and take the hit.

Nice of Marca to remind us he exists and lazily push him towards Tottenham (I imagine United as well, with Pogba stuff).

*In a wind tunnel*
Levy: "Alright what next?"
Poch: "We need new fullbacks..."
Levy: "What? You want Bale back? Seems a waste of money."
Poch: "No! I said FULL BACKS"
Levy: "Alright. You know best! Bale back it is!"

Half his wages is too much. 40+20 and 1/3 of his current wages would be an okey deal for us, but can't see either of the two other parties accepting that.

If he did come he would most likely retire here. No point for him to move abroad again and if he's good we won't sell him to another top team in the prem; can't see him playing for a midtable team either if his ability started to drop off.

This means he will have no resale value. Giving him a huge contract is a massive risk because we won't be able to shift him if things doesn't work out. But on the other hand: if he stays healthy and performs to the maximum of his potential he could win us the league.

Gut feeling says this deal won't happen, and I'm genuinly not sure whether or not I want it to.

I'm pretty sure Kane, Vertonghen, Alli etc would understand about his wages considering he's a 4 time champions league winner...

Footballers aren't totally oblivious and like in any job the more experienced/the more you've achieved the higher your salary is. If there's any chance at all to bring him back, we have to do it IMO.
