i rate eriksen highly but i will find it difficult to support him if he runs his contract down and does the club out of a significant fee.

I doubt he'll need your support then anyway. I think as soon as he said he wanted out he pretty much put himself in the shop window. From then on the potential buyers are thinking 'how much is this guy worth paying for to have this season?'. They know they can arrange to get him for free from Jan for next season so is he really gonna be worth 60mill for 1 extra season? No, is the answer.

So he doomed himself to another season at little tottenham and doomed us to losing him on a free next season. I don't imagine it panning out any other way now tbh. Hopefully Levy farms him out on a swap for someone from Real Madrid who still has the hunger like Diaz or Ceballos (?). I've never seen them play but if Poch agrees to it then that's enough for me.

It'll be a disappointing end to his career for me. He deserved a trophy for his efforts.

It is a strange one, one minute RM aren't interested & the next you read ZZ will let a player go if Eriksen comes to RM.

Personally I don't think sitting tight at Tottenham is in his interest, because of his age & he risks having a team like RM finding another player who fits in & they don't want him next year.

No. If he signs a new contract it means he does want to stay. If he doesn't he wont.

Personally i don't think he will.

No. if he signs a new contract its because no one he prefers to play for came in for him at a reasonable price, and so he might as well increase his salary.

No one is crying if he stays, but now I would rather someone hungry to be a part of what is being built at Spurs rather than someone jaded and with an eye on the door. A change might freshen both parties up here.

He can leave on a free next summer. If he signs he wants to stay. Might not have been his first option but it would be his choice.

As i said i don't think he'll sign a new contract with us.

The article is bullshit, He isnt after money or a payout.

I think he had always seen Spurs as a stepping stone and always had his eye on hitting 27/28 and making the next move up, and now he is just following through on this long planned trajectory.

The paradox for him of course is that we have kept pace, and maybe outstripped the ambitions he set 5 years ago, and with Barca/Madrid nonplussed the realistic next step up for Christian when he was planning his career 5 years ago (& looking at it from today's perspective) would have been a club just off the very top or very much on the ascendancy. To someone like, erm, Tottenham.

The reality is that we are probably exactly the best club for his level. He just isnt as good as he needs to be to push for a 'step up' to Galactico level.

A brilliant analysis sir. No bs and in my view bang on the money.

However I have to say that the article is well written (although I don't agree with the "after money" argument either). Particularly enjoyed "Manchester United have had a long-standing interest which dates back several years, but such a move would involve a clear footballing regression. United are yesterday’s power, hamstrung by executive inefficiency and muddled priorities. While they have the capacity to make Eriksen one of the highest-paid players in the game, the proposition on offer would be less than ideal. A Europa League campaign under a manager who most suspect will not last the season? United’s malaise has been sustained enough to be presumed semi-permanent and there’s a reason why the game’s very best no longer knock on their door. "

Looking at the player he was when he joined us 6 years ago at 21 years of age, you would have expected Eriksen to develop into something approaching world class by how, but he seems to have coasted (albeit very effectively in many instances) during his time here. I don't see any improvement in his dead ball skills, and he doesn't appear to have developed any additional speed, strength or muscle mass. This makes an interesting contrast to Cristiano Ronaldo, who over a similar period with Man Utd continually improved every aspect of his physique as well as his game, including physical strength, fitness, speed, stamina, positional awareness and his entire repertoire of ball skills. They play different roles, admittedly, but one seems to crave success more than the other.

He's 27 or 28 I guess, so the next contract he signs will be the very best that he gets. So long as Madrid are still in the hunt he'll hold out for that deal to happen. Even if they sign Pogba, I'd be surprised if he signed a new deal with us, unless it contains a few get out clauses should Pogba flop. If I were him I'd be looking to run my contract down and see how things look next summer.

He is short of options because nobody is showing interest ; in short no interest no options.

I think our style of play in general was laboured with little fluidity if it wasn't a counter and defences got tighter and so the most forward players didn't
get the type of openings and they had to work harder for less. Was this because of our style or lack of creativity?
It seems Poch is looking for that change. So my only question is being Eriksen was our only creative outlet was it the system or a lack of individual ingenuity that thus was the result.
We did well overall but a lot ilof it was getting some goals at the end when opposition got tired etc.
Really I've got nothing personal against Eriksen but this question is something I haven't answered for myself
I have concluded that he does take it when it's there but rarely creates it when it isn't
Is this unreasonable?
When people say he is great (world class etc) that's what I question
