I personally doubt anyone is going to pay the propertied fee he is believe to want. By all accounts there is a willingness from the player.

From the little I have seen of him in actual matches and some of the 'better' footage on youtube he looks a good player, but I don't think he's worth some of the numbers banded about as his supposed 'worth'.

& before people start yelling at me about 'going' rates etc the markets are set by those who want to get paid. Doesn't always make them right,

overpriced , he cost 8 million euros from Amiens in 18/19 , be stupid to pay figures Lyon are asking, be better off spending the money on the beer taps at the stadium

Cheers.

Still, these protracted transfer stand-offs never end well. And as for N'Dombele's willingness... I'm sure he would be just as willing to move to another top team if they do cough up and agree a fee with OL...

The thing people need to remember is the negotiating taking part on deals may be the difference of us having an extra £30m to spend somewhere else.

Lyon want c£65m, we want to pay let's say £55m, that and the Lo Celso figures ranging from us seemingly wanting to pay £55m and them wanting closer to £75m is the difference that could enable us to get a far better right back in place than we currently have.

We can't pay over the odds for a player, it sets the bar high for any future deals. Aulas will know that he can't get away with it with us due to our previous goings on in the transfer market. He isn't a silly man he will see that we didn't budge with the likes of Grealish etc. The only issue is will Aulas care if he sells Ndombele or if he is able to keep him at their club.

I don't mind seeing us biding our time and not getting mugged off. If we know someone's value and the selling club are trying to tout him about we have to dance that dance as well. Line up sucks incase Aulas gets it right and gets what he wants. If he says £55m and we say OK, only for him to say it's now £65m & then £75m etc where is the cut off point? We need to stand our ground even if it's painful and tedious

Hytner is pretty reliable for Spurs info from what I can remember, and it's a negotiation for a reason. Levy isn't Ed Woodward who would go in and pay the asking price immediately, he's trying to negotiate the price down slightly, but with Poch wanting him so badly I'd be surprised if he didn't pay close to the asking price anyway.

I've seen loads of players have a great season, get an absurdly inflated price put on their heads by greedy selling clubs playing the game and rightly so, only for their deal to not happen, have a poor season the year after and their value plummet.

We were prepared to pay up to £40m for Davinson Sanchez, I really don't then the club are as tight as some make out. It's long winded but do make the club right to know the value of a player and to go about things professionally in what is a sellers market these days.

Is Ndombele a player we could do with? I'm sure he is but do you spend above and beyond substainally in order to get him? I think there's a line you need to toe and that is offering something generous to something ludicrous. I don't know what that fee is or will be but how many players have we seen with a £50m price tag that end up signing somewhere for £35m-£40m? Our struggle is part of our blessing. The money in the Premier League automatically hikes prices up overseas and where others are trigger happy with it, we are more prudent hence record profits and our ever growing value. Interesting times ahead but if De Jong was £65m can we really say Levy isn't being fair not paying similar for Ndombele?

but why not make a competitive first offer? I understand our "valuation" technically isn't an offer but why not start with a 6 in front of the number if they value him at 75m?

The tough part is an assessment of a player's transfer fee is relative to the player's success at the club and the club's success with said player. VVD was a fortune until he wasn't. It's always a gamble. You can try to be a little more assured about it by buying someone with PL experience, someone who's consistently had good seasons for a number of years, whatever. But then you look at Alexis Sanchez.

Best way to look at this is if Spurs were willing to buy Frenkie de Jong and the probable amount it would have taken then I think they can be in the mix for dembele - thing is, is dembele worth more than de Jong?

What if we only value him at £50m though? They say you never accept the first offer so if we were to offer £65m as you've suggested it automatically leaves us paying far more than we think his value is already. What if we'd offered £65m and they said £85m, would you be saying why not just offer £75m as a starting bid? It's a lot of money and we will have the numbers, statistics and personal references on him to roughly know his worth to the team.

Low balling can act as an insult on some occasions, other occasions it can act as a good thing. I'm not suggesting £55m is a low ball, I'm just saying that the one spending the money holds more risk than the team selling for such figures and that risk needs to be taken into account

Fair - if we value him at 50m though and wont go above, then theoretically, we would offer lower because it leaves us room to go towards their price. It's very possible that we have our price and if we cant get there then we will move to another target but NDombele seems to be one earmarked by Poch, is an incredible player at just 22 years old, if we would back out of pursuing him over 10 or 15m then it makes me worry for the rest of the summer.

I find it hard to believe that we would value the player at only £44m. In today's market that will simply not get it done.

I could believe it may have been our opening offer - whether that was "officially made" or not.

I'm sure one of the ITK's once said that these types of articles are a few weeks behind what's actually going on and things will have moved on significantly since this. JJ has been positive so far so I'm hopeful we're far closer to an agreement than this article suggests.

Fucking hell, you’d all lose clubs hundreds of millions of pounds if you were involved in our negotiations.

Lyon value Ndombele at £66m. fine.

Spurs haven’t made a bid yet but value him at £44m. Fine

That is where negotiation happens.

If Levy said “Hello french me, this is our first offer... here’s the £66m you want, paid in full.” what is Aulas going to say?

“Actually....our valuation of him has changed. We want £77m.”

Don’t start running the tub and plugging the toasters in yet, for fucks sake.

But if we go in with an opening bid of £44m and end up getting him for £55m surely thats better than us going in straight away at £55m and getting him for £65m. It's all a part of the negotiating process. Yes it comes with risk but if Aulas things he's getting £10m than we wanted to spend out of the deal and we end up saving £10m then it's a good deal in births heads all round.

Besides we all know rumours at this stage of the season are mostly click bait. In the space of one week we've have the BBC say we've bid £53m and another source £35m for Lo Celso. These journalists are judged not based on accurate stories but clicks and buzz generated. They know what they're doing so take it all, even the rumoured Ndombele starting bid with the pinch of salt it requires and deserves.

I understood the critical date for Aulas was the end of June to bring it in this years accounts which still leaves 19 days, long wat to go yet.

because if we start with a 5 at the begining we will end up with a number starting with 6 if we start with a 6 we end up with a number starting with a 7 Simples, but I can understand your thinking as its not your money.
