Is that enough for Poch though, I'm not sure it is.

Backing him, requires attaining at least some of his preferred choices, surely?

Personally I think Levy will be a bit more ambitious in an attempt to satisfy Poch but that MO of his will surely still govern what is feasible and what isn't.

So the question is how much will Levy adapt in order to get Poch's targets in?

Time will tell I guess.
Even if Levy goes balls out with fees and wages doesn’t mean the player will come.
If He does does his best to get them in but the players choose other clubs then I’m hoping Poch won’t kick off and understand he may need to move into other targets.
As you say mate...time will tell.

Yep, sounds the same as normal to me. This time Poch though will have to accept B or C on the list if we can’t get our first choices, else we’ll be getting nobody in again and that just won’t do this time round I’m afraid.
He doesn’t have to accept anything! If DL doesn’t get him the players he wants and Poch refuses B and C. Who will look like the bad party and would anyone blame Poch if our results dropped next season? No , everyone would slaughter DL for not backing him. It’s pretty obvious Poch knows this.

Nah, I would imagine it's more to do with Levy trying to save a few million on the fees, Aulas has already said he wants it done before July to get revenue in for the previous season. Lo Celso has a release clause that we could have met. I'm not saying we should just pay what they want, there's no harm in trying to get them in at a lower fee. But the longer we wait the more likely their fees are met by someone else

Its a bit difficult when he is in Argentina, Copa America, till the first week in July.

Not really, his club are still in Spain it's also possible to get on a plane and fly out there, it would probably be better (for him) to have his future settled before the tournament starts.

I would imagine that all parties have been talking for a few weeks (or even months) now and Spurs already know how much Lo Celso would want a week; they may have already agreed provisional terms.

Contracts can be sent and signed by parties half way across the world, and deals can be agreed 'subject to medical' when he returns to Europe.

We're talking about a multi-billion dollar industry, breaking deals for £100s of millions of pounds in the 21st century; geography is not going to get in the way of business.

Both the buying and selling clubs also have a vested interest in keeping information to a minimum before it absolutely has to come out.

Anyone interested in Bale will be waiting til the last knockings to see how tight a corner RM have painted themselves into.

And given that we have the right to match any offer up until June 30th, 2019, i suspect the odds are low that anything will happen until July at the earliest unless someone has money to burn. Before that, any offer that would come in would have to be aggressive enough to keep Spurs from matching it. But then again, who knows what some of these owners might do.

Paying/matching the fee wouldn't be an issue for a handfull of clubs. That clause is pointless tbh.

But it’s not in our hands, is it?

What if Barcelona come in for lo celso or Man City come in for ndombele. That won’t be levy’s fault (although unrealistic people will blame him). We saw that with de Jong last summer. If and it’s a quite possible if, that were to happen again, would poch really bite his nose off to spite his face and not take the next option down the list and leave us struggling for numbers like this season?

That wouldn’t be a clever move from the manager, especially with a key player like erikssn leaving. Imagine if he went and we didn’t replace him because we couldn’t get poch’s first choice. They’d be hell to pay!

I’m glad for trix’s news and hope he has some more good news to share in due course, but we must be realistic.

JJ and Trix are optimistic so I am also, but the familiarity of this window so far cannot be what Poch means when he means we have to operate ‘differently’?

Can’t help but think that we get the same old positive nonsense each year when season tickets are due to be renewed, followed by ever diminishing expectations as the window draws to a close. And for the record, I don’t blame Poch one bit for not accepting options B or C, Levy has to step up.

We can’t afford to pull that crap this year or we wave goodbye to more than just a transfer window. If DL screws this up there will be hell to pay and I hope someone from the club reads this post with all the rest.

Amen; Levy’s asking for the apocalypse if he messes this up.

So regardless what Levy does he will be damned if we don't get who we want, even if the player DOES NOT WANT TO come to us?

Pretty much accepted as fact that both Lo Celso and Ndombele are keen. We’re Champions League finalists, we are up there with the best.

Trix talking about these players being wanted by the top of the food chain may explain the relative "silence" on all of our targets over the last week or so. There was that initial burst of information but then nothing since. Trying to keep it quiet until the deals are done?
Yeah I’m afraid if we know on here then the whole world and their pants know.

well then maybe this is all a cloak for the real players we want because there will always be someone who can pay more.

I think @Bulletspur 's point may be that a player might like us and our offer, but may like a different club and their offer better. If, say Spurs offer a player £110k a week, but Barca come in with an offer of £100k, then that player may prefer Barca even if their wage offer is lower. As has been said, transfers are complex things, and even if a player has made noises that they are keen for a move to us, that doesn't preclude the possibility of them changing their minds and choosing someone else. Levy can't hold a gun to a player's head and force them to sign for us (much as we might all crave that!) :)

I have no doubt that Levy is doing all he can to bring in fresh players, ones that can help us build on the foundation we've set in place with the new facilities and the serendipity of our increased prestige around the world. But, there will always be limits to what we can and can't achieve. That makes the next couple of weeks important, but there will always be the risk of failure.

Does anyone realistically think either Levy or Poch have any interest on paying Bale 500k a week to come back to Spurs at 30 years old?
Does that sound like a player that fits the Poch mould, or a signing Levy might make?
