dragon1: Lewis did u turn after stadium opening which got to him , we are not for sale right now
Lewis has never been s problem , levy never wanted a cash injection as would dilute his shareholding
We are entering a new era as the club is now incredibly self sufficient

So allowing for poor interpretation on my part. Does this imply JL previously was happy to sell whilst Levy didn’t want investment so as not to dilute his slice.

Now JL wants to invest more into the club, which is incredibly positive and long overdue.

Unknown is if Levy would (or even could) be resistant to this.

I don't think it means Lewis is going to pump money in, given the club is self-sufficient. Just that he doesn't want to sell right now.

no, there was rumours that lewis (or ENIC) would sell THFC when the stadium is completed. he doesn't want to sell now.
some of us thought that our lack of net spend in transfer market is due to lewis's reluctance to inject cash into THFC. but according to dragon1's update, its levy that doesn't want lewis to inject cash into THFC as it would dilute levy's shareholding in THFC (to be precise, ENIC, which i disagree with as cash injection into a company by the owner doesn't necessarily dilute other shareholders' share)
the club can self-sustain now so we shouldn't expect lewis to open the cheque book

I'm hoping someone a little smarter than myself can help elaborate on what that actually means...? That we r opening the purse strings? Something else?

It means if true that although Lewis won't be putting in large money himself because that would lower the amount of shares that Levy himself holds.

Where the club is doing so well in terms of making profit, instead of keeping outgoings lean which would make it appealing to a new buyer, they're instead going to let the club spend what they make so that we win the treble.

I’m choosing to go with this one!

It’s the ‘incredibly self sufficient’ bit that melts my butter

Why?

How long do you think city would survive if uae decided they'd had enough? How many teams have been financially pumped by their owners only for them to say fuck it?

Malaga, monaco, sunderland, villa, blackburn, leeds, rangers, pompey, milan....

That’s my point. We’re not being pumped by some super rich owner unless that’s what self sufficient means these days

You obviously haven’t understood what he meant...I literally have no idea how

Because i haven't heard the expression before.

Have you had butter that you were going to use and now it's melted? You might have wanted to use it.

Or is it a metaphor for something more sexual? Did you have hard butter that is now soft?

I dunno.

When you wanted buttered toast its much nicer when the butter has melted.

In any case, its good news that we don't want to sell up. We are heading in the right direction and ffp makes it much harder to achieve success with crazy money being pumped in (though we could do with the stadium debt being written off.

I’ve never heard it before, no, but it was very self evident. It’s really not a big deal though - all good!

It means that JL sees more value in the club coming and therefore doesn’t want to cash in yet.

Imagine it’s like having some shares in a company after opening a new state of that art factory. Why sell now when the factory will generate MORE profit and share value.

Can I remind people, Joe Lewis is 82+. Think he will be getting advice from his reps or DL himself. *Don’t mean to belittle ‘older’ peeps. Not sure he will be making final decisions at this stage.

I’m struggling to imagine the stadium opening pulled at old Joe’s heartstrings. More that he sees the club as being more profitable longer term than the just having the lump sum now. Main thing I take away from that is that there can be no excuses now for lacklustre squad investment. Got the training ground, the stadium, record profits and self sufficiency so we dont need to rely on our owners personal wealth like other clubs. Let’s bring in some talent to match all that good work now.
