Bored of his situation now. Great defender but obvious he's not going to extend so rather just sell him this summer and put the £25m towards our transfer kitty for this window rather than lose him for free in a years time.

If he stays and helps achieve another top 4 or gets us to a domestic trophy then we reap more than the 25 million. We only paid 11 million for him. I want his experience/ ability more than the transfer fee.

He has to agree to join another club before the 25 July else he stays for next season. At the moment he doesn’t sound like a player who wants to move on. Maybe he’s surprised as to where we are as a club and now doesn’t have as good an alternative?

It’s weird though, why not sign the new contract, take the increased wage and then push for a move if he really wants to go. That’s what we are led to believe the modern day player would do.

He probably wants to go on a free. One last mega contract.

Maybe the offer is off the table at the moment? I wouldn't be surprised given all the ITK regarding Poch and Toby's relationship.

He has said he wants to end his career with Ajax. I imagine he’d rather see his contract out and get a massive signing on fee with his next club than leave for £25m this summer. That said, if Man C come in I think we all know he’ll be gone pretty quickly. The other influence will be Levy. Will he let Toby or Eriksen run down their contracts? He is a pretty ruthless chairman, as demonstrated by how he got Peter Crouch off the payroll... basically told him he would not play for us again if he did not leave that week to join Stoke.

Ideally we’ll get another year out of Toby and two more from Jan, and by then Foyth, Sanchez (who will be a defensive beast if he learns from his mistakes), and Dier (whose best position will be at CB), will have matured and stepped up another level.

He sure isn't going to Ajax for another 4-5 years.
