Well I certainly did not enjoy the process of getting there but we did it. If you had offered me top 4 after everything that went on last summer I would have bitten your hand off. If you had told me we would also qualify for the Champions League final I probably would have sectioned you under the Mental Health Act.

Unfortunately, Roma beat Juve tonight by there are still two rounds left so we need to root for Inter tomorrow as well as AC Milan and Atalanta the three of which could take those last couple of spots but are below us in coefficient ranking.
I will just have to trust you as I don't understand any of this

Agree. There will have been some baseline assumption from CL. Group stage? 2nd round? But 10s millions earned above that!
I’d imagine group stage is the baseline. Cant assume beyond that. We’ve gotten £102m from Champions League this season. A little more if we win. After bonuses being taken out of that winning, perhaps there will be £70m left? That should be enough for 1 additional quality player plus wages .

Transfers aside, a well earned rest for the players and a full season in our new stadium should give us a good platform to retain top 4 next season
It's stuff like this imo that Pochettino was referring to when he made those comments about what next. We can't, and honestly we shouldn't, just be content with challenging for top 4. From next season, our objective should be to win the league, and then we scale down from there as the season progresses.

Think I read we have also earn't over 100 mill for reaching Champions League final and this is before player sales, there is no excuse for not spending this summer when our loan repayments are supposedly around about 50 million a year and our stadium will be bringing in about double that a year.

So reading the 'small print' these figures seem to include the overseas TV rights.

I think these figures will significantly increase next season, with the new deal that they signed.

If any 2 of the above happen, we would be pot 2.

I think we more likely than not be in pot 1 or 2.

From Butch Cassidy's post:

Too much still up in the air right now. If we win we are in pot 1. If we lose, depends on:

1. Chelsea beat Arsenal in Europa final
2. Sevilla don't make the CL (currently 2 points out in 6th)
3. Porto don't win the league, and lose out in qualifiers/playoffs
4. Roma don't make the CL (currently 3 points out in 6th)

If any 2 of the above happen, we would be pot 2.

It looks like both of 2 and 4 are more likely to happen than not to happen (Sevilla and Roma both require multiple teams to drop points in their last games in order to get top four). And I would put Chelsea winning the Europa at about 50/50. So I think it is likely (maybe 75% at a very rough guess) that two of options 1, 2 and 4 will happen.

There's also obviously the possibility of us winning the Champions League final.

So with that factored in, I'd say we have about an 85-ish % chance of being in pot 1 or 2.

Yeah, the beautiful thing about the Champions League additional money however is that it won't have been taken into account as part of our expenditure so hopefully it can be put into the team. You'd imagine the league money will have been taken into account though.
Part of the CL money will go to pay bonus clauses for players based on success in CL.

So far out of this lot:
1. Sevilla missed out on CL qualification to Valencia - great
2. Benfica won the title, if Porto still qualify (likely) that's no good
3. Roma looking unlikely to get 4th

If Atalanta get one more point in last two games Roma can only finish level with them and are 12 behind on GD.
Roma can only be level with Inter and are 9 behind on GD.

Aims:
1) Avoiding relegation
2) Top half finish
3) Best of the rest
4) Regular top four finish
5) Winning the league
6) Winning the CL.

We are at 5)
6) seems to have got ahead of itself.

Not to forget that number 4 wasn't actually the aim until we got into the new stadium.

We're years ahead of the original plan that Poch & Levy agreed upon.

This season we were in Pot 2 and got a harder group than most Pot 3 teams

Alternatively Milan win both games. They have easier fixtures, Atalanta have Juve away today.

But Juve’s already won the league. It’s a meaningless game for them except for a chance to check out their fringe and youth players.

Confused. So basically if porto qualify for CL which they have we are pot 2?

Point 3 is the only one which matters to us now. Basically if Roma miss out on CL we're in pot 2.so we need either Atalanta or Milan to finish above them ext weekend.

Could be sorted tonight if Atalanta beat Juve away.

So Chelsea beating arsenal is irrelevant?
