let's say RM agree to a 0 loan fee and 50% of his wages paid. For three years that is 45 million pounds.
Not convinced to be honest.

Great post and absolutely spot on.
Few other things to reinforce- Gareth doesn't have an ego problem.
Daniel and Jonathan B are very close and the original deal for him to go to RM was crafted well for both parties a long time before it happened.
All about doing the best deal on wages for us too and the impact that has on the rest of the squad.
How many wingers do we need as MP prefers EL over LM !! I know i know i know.
Personally i would absolutely love this to happen too!!
I remember when Bale went Barnett was nothing but complimentary about Spurs and Levy.

As for Lamela, surely Bale’s versatile to play left right or centre means Pochettino wouldn’t see him as just a winger? He could easily play left or right (he wasn’t on the left under AVB), or partner Harry up front when we go for a diamond midfield. And as both a creative and goals-scoring threat Bale offers infinitely more than Lamela.

In fairness, the last three years of Sissoko has cost £42m of transfer fee + salary. I think we’d all agree, worth every penny ;)

IIRC it was actually written into the contract, when Bale left, that he and his agent weren't allowed to chat shit about us in the media.

Edit: voila https://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/...-real-madrid-including-all-the-spurs-clauses/

Clause 16 in the contract is also pretty intriguing with Gareth Bale banned by Real Madrid to say anything negative about Spurs, the board of any employees of the north London club.

I know a fair few people are saying Bale won't come because of the wages but he's already worth somewhere in the region of £150m. If he really wants to come back to us then I don't think it'll be anything like the problem some people think it will be. Let's say he came on a three year contract at £200,000 a week (c. Harry's salary), that's still another £30m+ in his coffers from salary alone.

The one thing I reckon that will bring him home is the genuine adoration he's always had from this club. Given the way he's been treated by Madrid fans, I reckon he might be up for a bit of hero worship from us again.

We surely have not enough wingers with Lamela being injury prone, N'Koudou completely useless and we were completely short of attacking players on the bench the whole 2019.

If we can afford him and Bale wants to play a role here and not a Ronaldoesque superstar role I would welcome him with open arms.
The fact of him being HG is a nice plus too.

I give it one game and we will all be saying how shit he is after watching 84 minutes of a 0-0 draw against Norwich.

And that’s just the transfer fee. Add inn Zaha’s 100k a week and that the actual comparison

£45m would the the total cost of Bale for three years

Zaha is already on closer to £150k I believe. He should never have signed the last extension without putting a clause in. £65m and 5 years at £160k would work out around £21m a year too, similar to the loan deal suggested earlier in the week.

If the club can make the finances work, then i can't see why anybody wouldn't want him back. Amazing player and we desperately need to improve our squad if we want to challenge for the title rather than top 4.
