Wow, Degea strikes again being beaten twice at near post.
Another week, another sublime Degea performance. Can't wait to see him replace Captain at Tottenham.

The first goal was brilliant from BSilva, I wouldnt blame De Gea. The second one was poor from him

All goalkeepers make mistakes, even top ones like Hugo

Some mistakes are punished a lot more than others. I see Alisson making a mistake virtually every game but luckily he's getting away with it atm

That last save from Ziyech was as good as the match-winning goal, but will get 1% of the attention. World class from our world class skipper.

Yep big shout out to Hugo

Unquestionably our best goalkeeper since Jennings/Clemence about 35/40 years ago!!!

Anyone who thinks otherwise is a complete numpty

“Yeah but he makes mistakes, his distribution isn’t great, blah blah blah blah blah”

Fuck off

Costed us a lot this season, and was criticised for that - right so.

But won us even more, so deserves lots of credits.

I am happy for him to be our no1 for few more years, but same time I also want us to sign new promising (HG if possible) keeper and implement it slowly into the team.

I’d add Erik the Viking in there too

He’s the kind of goalie that will always make a mistake because of his style. But he doesn’t make hardly any mistakes like the one against Liverpool when Salah headed it, it’s usually just rush of blood mistakes. Yeah sometimes he misses crosses but all goalies do. My main gripes are that his short kicking is pretty awful, he often puts team mates under unnecessary pressure. And that pass he does when he kicks it to his left halfway up the field rarely finds our player and often finds theirs.

With that said, he’s an amazing shot stopper, he’s become excellent at saving penalties, he’s one of the best sweeper keepers in the league, he’s a great captain (when he isn’t drink driving..) and carries himself very well in interviews etc.

My main worry for him is that he gets too excitable and he’ll come out of his area to clear a ball and end up getting sent off ala PSV. That would be horrific in a final. His style means that can always happen but overall he’s been excellent for us and doesn’t deserve anywhere near as much criticism as he gets from some of the fans who seem to forget all the amazing saves he makes for us.

The bottom line is that I can show you several games throughout the last few seasons where goalies worth a hell of a lot more than Lloris make stupid mistakes that cost their team. Lloris cost us £8M. Kepa, Allison, Ederson (and De Gea) cost an absolute fortune and are seen as the best goalies in the Prem and they’ve committed so many mistakes between them, especially this season. We have one of the best goalies around who happens to be a current World Cup winner too. It’ll take someone special to replace him.

I like all of that but must quibble with the bolded parts. Hugo's actually a terrible (outfield) footballer whose conspicuous errors have come from trying to be one, but yes, his interceptions are often crucial and overall he's a fine goalkeeper who's good enough to go where we're going. And I have the impression he's a good captain too, as you said ... looking at his relationship with Poch and the other players and the way he carries himself.

Fans that have been laying in to Lloris should be embarrassed to be honest. Proper shithead behaviour.

Why? Sure if people were booing him at games, or shouting at him at the street I would agree, but why is expressing your opinion on a football forum 'shithead behaviour'? are we only allowed positive viewpoints now?
