Sissoko didn't suddenly become.a better player down to coaching alone. He was changed to a position that suited his skill set. He still has the same technical deficiencies he had before.

He is just a better suited cm, as he is a power house.

Janssen needs coaching. His 10 min cameo wasnt enough to tell if he has improved or not. He put a couple of decent balls in the box, but, as before, why isn't he in the area to receive it? I'm sceptical that he has suddenly become a premier league player, let alone one challenge going for high honours. but of course, would love it if he suddenly started scoring and did well.

The only logical thing that can happen on this rollercoaster of a season is a Janssen perfect hatrick against the Spam, scoring the 3rd as he runs over Jack Wheelchair before slotting home.

I'd be amazed if Wilshere doesn't get injured before the game.

This. He looked absolutely awful in every possible facet of the game. Poor touch, poor positional play, poor passing, just poor.

Seeing him now, is unbelievable. Almost never gives the ball away, usually picks the intelligent pass, very frequently turns defense into attack, driving runs, boundless energy, always in the right place at the right time.

Janssen is poor, however, he is a willing runner and hard worker. He clearly knows where the goal is. Stranger things have happened.

As for the worst player at spurs in modern times, not even close. Nicola Berti was shocking, Andy booth, Ben Thatcher, that polish striker. To name a few.
Was Nicola Berti really that bad? I was too young to have seen him play, but i just assumed he was decent because we still sing a song about him. And also because he'd played for Inter

Nicola did a job at the time, Jason Dozzel on the other hand....

Come on. Looks like some of you have forgotten how bad he is.
I would rather use Parrott in the coming games

Jansse is a waste of space. And to think he has the #9 shirt

Agreed really :cautious:

But I swear to god when Ryan parried that shot and it fell towards him I drew such a sharp intake of breath my cat bolted.

Anyway - put him on against West H. He’ll probably leave this summer but he might as well do one useful thing while he’s still here

Some very interesting comments by Pochettino today about giving people a 2nd chance after they've made a mistake. Who knows what went on but maybe they’ve cleared the air. I guess they must have or he wouldn’t be involved. Pochettino today definitely made it sound like the door is open for him. But maybe they are trying to make him more sellable. But seems there is a glimmer for him. Ultimately if he leaves it’s gonna be to a smaller club. Maybe janssen has realised this is a once in a lifetime chance. As said after Sissoko anything is possible. Still think even if not scoring he can be effective in an Emile Heskey type way. Basically just being a nuisance and creating space for others.

Berti was decent! Harsh to have him listed with the others in that list

…and yet, Poch still used him as a late sub against Brighton over a very promising academy product. He still clearly sees some use for Janssen in these desperate times when we’re plagued with injuries.

He’s also concerned about throwing Troy Parrott, a 17 year old with no PL experience, into a critical game where we’re yet to secure top 4; both for the good of the club and the youngster’s confidence and future. Once we do secure top 4, it’s a different story.

Parrott is far more important to the future of the club than Janssen, but till we secure top 4, think Poch will go with the player who has some PL experience, as flawed as he is, and who’s had more training time with the first team.

Comparing Janssen to Sissoko's situations are a bit different I think, Sissoko improved through a run of games where he gradually got better and more confident, Janssen isn't going to get that so I don't see how people are holding out the samr hope.

Son and Lucas don't always start or get a run of games, especially when Kane is fit. The important point from my side is if VJ can be a good squad member and contribute when called upon, that makes him a worthwhile option. And I like to believe he can.

I don't think he proved much the other night other than he's prepared to work for the team. Saying that if Poch wants to rest a few players ahead of the Ajax game then I'd be happy to see him given a chance.
I was listening to a podcast the other day and there was an interview with a Dutch journalist and he was saying that the Ajax defence hates playing against players like Llorente. Maybe we should keep Fernando fresh for midweek and give Vinny another chance against West Ham.

Does Parrot train with the first team yet? As you say we can't really think of playing him if he hasn't had that preparation.

I'm not saying Janssen is the second coming, but it would've been nice if Llorente could've shown the same willingness in his 90 minutes.

I don't think he can run around like that these days. He's just not very mobile at this stage of his career. If we want someone who runs around a lot there's no point in playing Llorente.

Yeah I wasn't dismissing your opinion buddy. Just pointing out that Janssen's effort was appreciated after what we had to endure from Llorente in that particular match.
