Lots of talk in the last week about an "overhaul" here at Spurs with a number of outlets stating as many as 12 leaving. They've also mentioned that there may be some surprises.

Guys like Janssen, Llorente, GKN, Wanyama, Eriksen, Toby & any of our fullbacks wouldn't amount to any surprise.

I believe one of them may be Lamela, which may not be surprising to many, given that he has had troubling physical issues during his spell here. But Poch's been quite loyal to him.

Maybe more controversially, I feel another may be Dier.
For the most part he's been a real asset to us both on field & off. His versatility has given us more flexibility in how we approach games & helped us change tactics without having to make substitutions going from the back line to midfield & vice versa. But he has been out more of late than ever before. Maybe Poch feels it's time to cash in on him & get more of a technical player.

With Lamela we may be able to get as much as £20M +/= a few million.
As for Dier, can we get £40-50M? A year ago there were quotes of much higher.

Could that money help us buy someone like Ndombele?
He'd give us a similar steel in midfield but with far more drive & threat going forward.
I feel it's worth it to push Juve for him. They've already parted with quite a bit of money for other players. How much more than the quoted £60M could they afford?
More importantly, do Spurs believe that is being 'brave'?

Just a thought.

Dier stays for me - WC/injury hit campaign but he should stay as long as:
1. signs a new deal
2. is open to Poch's ideas re: his best position

It’s always good to see how a “top” player handles dropping down a league
To be fair - this is Grealish's 3rd season in the Championship, he did not just drop down, and then turn up. He's been down for quite a bit. I kind of want to see a player with more ambition than that...

In his defence, Grealish did want a move last summer so I don't think we can question his ambition.

He gave a solid couple of seasons to Villa, one of which I'm sure in his head was the last one before making a move back up to the Premier League. It didn't pan out & he adhered to his contract at his boyhood club like I'd expect any professional with love for the club to do

Sounds like Man City want to sign some plonker called Rodri from Ath Madrid and are more interested in him than Ndombele.

Could that leave the door open for us?

Mentioned this a few pages ago, I don't think they will be after N'dombele if they manage to sign Rodri.

However I wouldn't put anything past them, they bought Mahrez for £60 Million when they had absolutely no need for him.

Might as well put a cheeky bid in for Seri, the collective brain trust on here said he was (in some cases) just the sort of central mid we could do with ...

Football is a game of horses for courses, fashionable names time and time again.

& if one more person peddles the 'Spurs & brave' bollocks I think I'll kick someone else's cat. Stop mugging yourselves off, you sound like the researches for Soccer Saturday have told you what to write on here.

I'd be surprised if more than 4 players left this summer, for the simple reason that it's not that easy to sign quality players as replacements. This is compounded by the fact that we struggled (and failed) to sign players last summer.

So for us to go out and recruit 5 or 6 new players in an expensive and competitive market, is a bit unlikely.

Poch would have to be less rigid with his transfer targets and/or Levy would have to spend like he's never spent before!

I still don't get all the hype around Ryan Sessegnon.
He flourished in the Championship even though he lacked a high level of technical ability & tended to run down blind alleys.
This season in the Prem, he reflected his poor sides form: just not good enough.

Given that he's still young & athletic, Poch may be able to work with him & develop his field sense but his skills are lacking at this level.
Granted we may be able to get him at a more discounted price now that Fulham are going down but my feelings remain the same.
I still don't think he has or will have Prem level ability & that money could be better spent on another.

Sesseggnog (sic), just like his name, may be appropriate for certain occasions but...

Apologies in advance for the cheap joke.

I'm not really aboard the Sessegnon train either. I know he's young and has potential and is home grown etc etc but I've no idea what position he plays for starters. If he's a wingback he needs to be a shitload better defensively and if he's an AM I don't know where he fits in our setup. By the time he reaches his potential this current team could well be history, and I'd rather we went for a ready to roll player like Grimaldo or Telles. We need to buy some ready made players if we want to proprerly challenge the top tier, otherwise we're in a permanent state of flux.

What I am dreaming of if we ever show some ambition on the transfer market:

GK: Lloris (1), Gazzaniga (2), English 3rd keeper, Button?

RB: Trippier, KWP, (Maybe it is a good position to bed in Foyth as well)
CB: Vertonghen (3), Sanchez (4), Foyth (5), J. Andersen (6) // Andersen for the case Alderweireld leaves
LB: Rose, Davies

CM: Tielemans (7), Wanyama (8), Dier, Sissoko (9), Winks, Skipp
CAM: de Beek (10), Dele, Eriksen (11), Son (12), Lucas (13), Sessegnon, Edwards/Shashoua/Roles

CF: Llorente (14), Kane

In: J. Andersen, R. Sessegnon, Tielemans, D. van de Beek, HG Keeper
Out: Alderweireld, NKoudou, Lamela, Janssen, Vorm

Unfortutnately there is no way we have a net spend that high. Maybe add Eriksen to the outs or remove van de Beek in the In department.

Rodri is going to be a world class DM, he's an exceptional young talent. Would be perfect for us. They also don't play the same roll.

Don't think we'll see much until CL is sorted. Still lots of variables - there was ITK about 2 different directions depending on CL and EL - plus uncertainty over Toby and Eriksen which provides its own challenges.

Rightly or wrongly I think it will be a case of see where we are at once the dust has settled. If Toby and / or Eriksen decide to stay then it changes our transfer strategy as maybe we can afford to let more 'other' players leave as player turnover needs to be balanced. If we secure CL then I think it gives us more options for CM. I don't think we'll all of a sudden see us paying mega money, but at the same time there will be activity I'm sure.

IDK may just happen. If we had a hot ~150M in our pockets last summer (as per ITK) and we haven't spent it, + the Dembele money, + the money we get for outgoings this summer, and the important one - Qualify for CL next + any extra potential money we get for further wins or progression this year then we might actually have that number without selling Kane. That's just science right there.

Had a chat with a season ticket holder of Genk this weekend. He’s seen quite a few talented players come and go over the years, but was raving about Berge as one of the absolute best he’s ever seen. When I mentioned Spurs have been following him, he reckoned it would be a good deal for Berge, but ‘not the end station’. He thinks he could go all the way and play for Bayern/Juve etc.

That being said, Berge (and Genk as a team, for that matter) are tearing apart the playoffs in Belgium.

French media think PSG most likely destination for Ndombele and he’ll cost minimum €60m. Juventus, City and Real also sniffing around.

I think next week is time for my periodic reminder that he is not a realistic option for us given the competition, so I’ll hold off for now.
