To be fair we beat Bournemouth 5-0 with 2 centre backs so is that a case to play with that formation ?

That's a better argument, why didn't you just say that in the first place?

There's merits to both formations, with 3 at the back you can make it 3-4-1-2 with full backs playing high up the pitch, like wingers. Also that formation supports 2 strikers which we will probably need against their deep lying defence.

Bournemouth isn't the best example as they play more expansive and are far more open at the back.

I’d play Llorente 100%. Get trippier and rose as wide as possible and let sonny go where he wants!

I dont want to put a kiss of death on this match but after watching the way we've played in recent weeks, with wholesale changes often through necessity, I'm not worried about who plays where at all.
Poch has this sorted.
Start Trippier, KWP, Dier, Wanyama, Moura, Llorente, Gazza, Foyth, Sanchez, whatever, it wont make any difference.
I see nothing but a comfortable victory.
We're a well drilled squad. Everyone can do a bloody good job. Even Rose in midfield lol.
3.0 win at least. 2.0 at ht.
Bring it.
COYS.

Foyth deserves to play. Llorente is a sub only.

As strong as possible. Think he might go Dier and Wanyama in midfield though.

Foyth always has a mistake or 2 in him, and the next two are crucial so I’d rather Sanchez than Foyth and give the latter some game time if / when we’ve sown up top 4

Hold on a cotton picking minute. Not play Foyth because the next 2 games are crucial & he always has a mistake or 2 in him. But play Sanchez?

I rate Sanchez very highly, he IS going to be an absolutely brilliant CB. But he's just as likely to make as many, if not more mistakes than Foyth. He also doesn't have anywhere near the passing ability, or footballing intelligence of Foyth.

If we were talking solely about the West Ham game, I'd be all for Sanchez's superior strength & battling qualities over Foyth's footballing abilities. But against a Brighton team that's likely to sit back, I have to believe Foyth's passing & footballing abilities will be better for that particular match.

Would not start Foyth again this season. His habit of swinging a leg out the moment someone gets past him is not what we need.
Seemed okay against Sterling on Sat, Sanchez, Trippier, Dier, Aurier all have mistakes in them too, shall we not play them?

If you want him dropped for that reason, what makes you think he won’t do it again next season.

By your reasoning, we might as well sell him off in the summer then.
