...popped over to RAWK to see if they have a thread on our match...of course they do!

Interesting reading - naturally they're very confident. The line between confidence and sheer arrogance is often stepped over but we can forgive them, after all they are scousers. They only way we get anything from the game is if they are not quite at the races or if the Ref fucks them over (which apparently Martin Atkinson does so more often than not)...

Here's some snippets for you:

Quite confident for this. A lot of our players have had nice quiet breaks, and many of their have been involved in tiring games (Eriksen, etc).

8-0 to the reds, shite these.

With the best atmosphere, crowd on full throttle, no nerves and the team getting a good start, I can see us getting a 3-0 here.

More than likely we aren't going to play against Spurs like we did against Fulham for various reasons. We played Fulham within ourselves, we didn't play at our highest level, we didn't just have an intense game against bayern in midweek like we did leading up to that match, we played in 2nd gear. We wont play with the same lack of intensity against Tottenham.

We need to take our chances, because I think there will be multiple ones for us.

A bit nervous about this game, not saying I don't think we could win. It's just the nature of coming straight off the international break, having said all that our players certainly came bang in form. Start quickly hopefully get an early goal and my confidence will grow optimistically after that. Either way just win the game Reds.

This is a much tougher game than some will have you believe - it won't be a stroll in the park at all.

1-0 to us or 1-1.

I'm not worried about our performance for this game. We will be totally up for it. Just expect another great performance the way we usually beat Arsenal or Spurs at home when they can't deal with us.

Read my sentences again. I said I'm not worried about our performance. However we could still draw this game if their keeper is having a blinder, if Salah and Firmino are holding the ball a second too long and lose it in scoring positions, if the ref gives them soft penalties again or if we switch off for one or two moves and allow Kane in... it could well be a 2-2 draw.

So, I can see us scoring... but if we Virgil and the boys at the back are in top form along with the ref, then we will definitely win.

Atkinson as the ref. One of the most inept refs in the league and seems to like to fuck us over. Hope we don't give him any 50/50 calls to make when we're defending in our box cause you can guarantee he'll give it their way.

Hopefully everyone is at the top of their game and we grab the win. Next 3 games are crucial. Get maximum points from them and we'll be in a fantastic position

I can't get over how bitter the Scousers are about our 2-2 result at Anfield last season.

They just can't move on and let it lie...sweet Jesus - to be rolling out the same cheat/diving/goal claiming lines a year on...that game really hurt them.

Especially when you think of all the unjust penalties they've got this season

Thing is, we all know we've had some absolutely shite refereeing decisions this term, mainly because we watch the games so we see them in front of us, but by the law of averages alone this must also be the case for other teams. The general standard of reffing has plummeted and it's suspiciously all about the time VAR became the topic of conversation - surely there is no correlation but it's been obvious for at least all of this season and possibly last too, referees are under a lot more pressure and some very strange decisions are being made, all over the UK.

It's not a fairness thing, though I'm sure some refs have their teams/unconscious biases, I think it's a problem with refereeing generally and it needs addressing by the FA.

So get used to it as they won't do shit.

I can forgive them for being confident. I know I would be if our forms were reversed.

Thats almost what is making me quietly confident - they think it will be a walk in the park and i think we will nick it 1-2, Alli and Kane. Kane getting the winner in the last 5...

Hoping for any non-defeat. Realistically expecting a fluke / gift for them within 5 minutes, Salah to dive, get and score a penalty. And probably a clearance from their goalie, taken by a vicious swirling wind, over Hugo's head for a 3-0 loss. And Klopp praising the officials and saying how the calm conditions allowed his team to play their true game.

You forgot the bit about Klopp murdering the 4th Official and being told not to do it again or he might get a one match ban.

Winner in the last minute, controversial circumstances ideally.

Anything to wind them up pleaseee

A horrible, horrible dive by Lamela to win a penalty, followed by a wink to the cameras as he gets up, would be absolutely delicious :hungry:

Fuck any dark arts stuff or any fluke, I want us to go out there and show that, despite us fucking over our 'title challenge' in the past couple of months, form is temporary, class is permanent, there's a reason why we finish above them every season and play them off the park, demolish them, and leave them crying into their stolen hubcaps.

Pretty sure that this confidence and arrogance won't be shared by the eleven they put on the field though. However, I think that Mane and Salah are licking their lips.

Spammers on our stadium, they have a dedicated thread that is 38 pages. There’s some gold in there.

——

“Its completely ****ing depressing looking at their stadium. The processes we went through to move into a stadium that is not fit for football and quite frankly souless and still doesn't even look properly finished.

There are obviously people happy with the new stadium but i think its ****ing tin pot and we have gone miles backwards. Haven't been to a proper game for a long time and can't be bothered because its ****. Tottenham have a fantastic stadium, on their patch and whether it brings success or not isn't even the main factor...going to a ****ing crap ground week in week out is the biggest problem and we have that problem for the rest of our lifetime...god ****ing help us“

——

“I think most fans will put up with a crumbling ground with character and decades of history, or a modern stadium built with football supporters in mind.
We currently have a modern-ish stadium built with athletics in mind and a handful of wins against top six sides in terms of (positive) history so far, so I think it's pretty understandable to look at Spurs and wish we had a stadium like theirs. Bottom line is, it's undeniably a better football stadium than ours, whether we like it or not.”

——

“Its ok to admit a rival club are doing better than us, doesn’t make you any less of a fan.

Lewis is a dream of a benefactor, exactly the type of owner you want. Levy is a fantastic football administrator, Spurs fans might not think so but judging against what we have, has in a different league.

There is no comparison between the stadiums. They will have one of the finest, purpose built football stadiums in the world. I couldn’t give a flying **** how large our capacity is – means diddly squat. Gloating about that is the same as getting excited about the size of the tv screens. They are irrelevant and don’t reflect the status or progression of a club.

So their build costs have increased – so what? Who pays for it … Spurs. So they’ve moved in late …… big deal? Hardly something you can take the piss out of them for, especially as we moved into ground before it was complete. Come to think of it we’re still making amendments to our place 3 years after we got the keys. All of which is a bigger laughing stock than what they are going through.

I don’t like it any more than the next fan that Spurs have ‘bragging’ rights over us in the this respect, I can accept it though … as unfortunately that’s what it is.
Doesn’t make you any less West Ham, it’s just the sad reality of the situation we find ourselves in.

I would personally pay more for my ST if it meant to watch a better team, in a better stadium whilst enjoying a better match day experience.”

Palace went there and scored 3.
Burnley went there and scored 2.

I think if you can manage the occasion, start defensively strong and get at them later you give yourselves a chance.

Our mindset has to be absolutely spot on.

This will happen. I know it, you know it.
They'll come out flying at us from first whistle. Really need to get to 25min without conceding. I dont think Liverpool have looked that impressive recently but we've been woeful in PL.

@Dillspur I think my favourite post from that Kumb stadium thread is this one:

At the end of the day despite what the media want you to believe it isn't all about winning trophies if it was then 85 of the professional clubs in the country (including us) might as well pack it in. Football is about inspiring the fans to believe their club will achieve the best it can every season ... be that promotion from League 2, reaching the 3rd round of the FA Cup, or for us getting into Europe ... you also have to believe that in some magnificent far away future we just might go all the way ... that's a dream but you have to hang on to that dream ...

The fact is Spuds are nearer the dream than we are, the billion dollar stadium has helped keep that dream going ... they're still winning feck all, and with City, Utd and Liverpool spending 100's of millions that probably won't change, but at least their dream is in with an outside chance ....

We need to stop accepting the abysmal management of our club or all our dreams will die ... for far to many lifelong fans following the disastrous ownership of GSB those dreams have already died.

An actual West Ham fan who understands what football is about. There's quite a lot of them to be fair.
