Let’s be honest we will not beat Liverpool.

With that in mind arsenal , chelsea and utd will be above us before we play back to back home games.

Our only saving grace is chelsea and utd plu each other and Arsenal’s wretched away record. We have well and truly blown it , even a draw at Anfield isn’t enough we need three points right now

Chelsea have 2 tough games away, Man U have 2 tough home games, Arsenal have 5 away games and have been inconsistent away from home, but apparently we are the only ones that will definitely lose at least 2 more games

I said "Could" after losing 6pts to potential relegation clubs. LFC and ManC are 1/2 for a reason. LFC lost One Game! ManC I know lost to Soton but they still top. Hasn't affected them. LFC/ManU/Eve draws were rival 'cup finals'. Personally I don't fancy us v either as in could result in losses. Our aim should be to compete for 3rd to guarantee CL whereas 4th doesn't. I'm sorry but Spurs don't like coming up here to the northwest ( I live between the 2 of them) . They don't get off the bus usually. No welcome at Anfield this year after same Kane dubious pen and Vertonghen eye eye last time out !!

4th does guarantee it now.

Not if both 5th and 6th in the PL win CL and EL. Which actually might happen this season!

In a masochistic sort of way I'd love to finish 5th or 6th and win CL. But losing the final in that scenario would be absolutely unbearable.

The only way that would affect us is if Man Utd won the CL (Liverpool and City are top 4 guaranteed), Chelsea or Arsenal won EL and we finished outside the top 4.

Don’t think that’s right. If we finish 4th and the teams that finish 5th and 6th win EL and CL then we would miss out in CL.

If we finished outside top four we would be out the CL regardless of other teams performance unless we won the CL.

I thought that top 4 guaranteed CL after the travesty of when Chelsea won the CL after finishing outside top 4, and we were then subsequently bombed out. i.e the maximum number of places is NOW 5 if a team outside the top 4 wins CL

Yes, but after the EL winner got a CL place you can get into a situation where six sides from England can claim a CL spot. In that extreme scenario it's 4th place that loses out and the five teams we send to CL are 1st, 2nd, 3rd, CL winner and EL winner.

But it can only happen if the winners of both European competitions finish outside the top four.

so what your saying is we will lose to Liverpool, Arsenal should beat Newcastle at home, Man Utd would need to definitely beat Watford at home, and then Wolves away (which will give us a game in hand) and that Chelsea will definitely beat Everton and Chelsea to go above us

Does anyone know the rules with regards to if Chelsea (can't bring myself to say the other lot) win the EL but finish in the top 4 too. I'm assuming that wouldn't mean 5th also get a space?

No. Only if they finish outside the top 4.

I thought so as well but after seeing Chelsea fk up at home against Wolves I'm not so sure and they were a minute away from losing that game.
Man U have just lost so we'll see what happens.
I'm more worried about what we're gonna do than anyone else!

I’d say this is good news for us. Palace and Brighton have crucial fixtures either side of us.
Palace- Huddersfield h Newcastle a

Brighton- Southampton h Bournemouth h

I’d imagine both Roy and Chris will prioritise those games. I’d prefer palace if we did lose to Liverpool at least we could hopefully get a win 3 days later.

They are going to be scrapping for every available point. There aren’t any gimmies from here until the end of the season.

We also fkd up against wolves and we did lose!

but we beat Wolves away, Chelsea lost so shirely we should finish above them.

Liverpool will be favourites to beat us, they always are. think we have only beat them there in the league 3 times in 100 years, but in terms of top flight football nothing is written in stone. if they picked up injuries in the CL, or in their PL game next Sunday, or even the 1's that play international matches, it might help us get a result.

or if Poch plays it differently and we get a bit of luck (shit happens sometimes)
