To be honest the slope / lack of run up space for corners means fuck all to us cos we don’t know how to take a decent corner anyway. It should therefore help by hindering our opponents

I'm not sure it is a wind up. This is very much part of slopegate. Above is one of many photos I took at to open day in December. Both the slope and the corner spacing was ridiculous.

We commented on the day that it looked like they'd designed it without taking these in to consideration.

We thought maybe the pitch dropped and on the day it wasnt quite in final mode? But I don't think it does drop. There genuinely is no space for even a one step run up.

So there is no way that Eriksen will ever clear the first man on the post now...:(

Its been about 30 years since anyone took a corner with ball inside that little segment thing. There’s loads of space.

Well our corners can't get any worse anyway. If anything at least it makes our opponents take shit corners too.

Quite a few of us had already mentioned about the slope, lack of place for corners, tight room for ref's assistants and no warm up area (unless you warm up at 45 degrees on the slope) etc. We were told by the rest that it is going to be alright on the night as the sides will rise to level off etc. Dont see that myself and did predict that it will come back to haunt us as we will be even a bigger laughing stock by the footballing world.

You also thought the stadium would be a third shorter and wouldn't believe the rest of us. The only part where the slope is fairly steep is behind the south goal. Nobody will be warming up there and the linesmen will not be running up and down it. Uefa and the fa have given it the ok.

I think the pitch size is as small as it's allowed to be as well at 105m x 68m. Maybe it's a ploy to get the FA to agree to let us change the pitch size back to what WHL was at 100 x 67m. It certainly suited our playing style on the smaller pitch.

You’re not allowed to have that size pitch anymore.

All new builds have to have the standard size now.

From our head groundsman own mouth -

The corners and goal profile are not complete to match specification but will be soon.

How is that even possible, and why aren't they up to spec? Has it been a cock up that they are gonna have to bodge a solution for now? The playing surface seems to be one of the more vital parts of a football stadium. You'd imagine they would want that up to the regulations...

That message from the groundsman is a few months old around time of the 6k test. I’m not sure what your point is ? It’s pretty clear he said the playing surface and surround was not at match spec at that point but will be. Come on seriously if anyone thinks that the playing area will not be up to spec give your head a wobble. This isn’t Hackney marshes it’s a billion pound stadium.

And by the way the guy that wrote the story in the Sun is notorious with writing ridiculous articles if you goggle his name.

Wasn't the exact quote "not in match mode". I think your use of the word "spec" has confused @stevenurse.

There might just be enough space for little diddy Daniel Levy to take our corners.

That's of course only if he can climb up the big slope first.

Well I must have missed that, but without the date attached to the quote, what do you expect me to think? For all I know you could have had a Sunday lunch with him down the local this afternoon.

I dont doubt it would be fine by the time we play, however, if there's one club in the world that could build a billion pound stadium and fuck up the pitch dimensions, it would be us.

We are the equivalent of Sideshow Bob walking in a footballing world of garden rakes.

We should have been playing Barcelona, Inter and Dortmund at the new ground. But now ironically due to the shitshow with the fire alarm and the extra expense, we couldn't fund sufficient upgrades, and it's looking likely we'll have to open the stadium for its first full season playing a team from the Moldovan league. They'll just be glad there's stands the whole way round and the changing rooms have working lights

I already mentioned in here when I went to visit the stadium someone confirmed that the slope will be raised to be level of the pitch on match days.

Yes, you did reply to one of my posts saying this, but still am sceptical as if the sides were raised to be level, wouldn't that create a steep ridge somewhere at some point?

Dunno m8, I'm not a groundsman, just best to sit back and not worry, let them deal with it.

I can’t believe we’re back on the slope debate. The sides raise up and are more or less level. If you go back 50 odd pages you’ll see it in “Game Mode”.

"The Nike North London Stadium at White Hart Lane", suggests Cartilage Free Captain:

https://cartilagefreecaptain.sbnati...mor-sponsor-north-london-nike-white-hart-lane

Sounds like an awful mouthful that no sponsor in their right mind would go for, but to be honest I think it sounds weirdly cool. (I'd bet my house it's not the name though.)
I love that name because people will just shorten it to White Hart Lane or The Lane.

Newcastle United did something similar. Sports Direct Stadium at St James Park.
No one referred to it as Sports Direct because St James Park name was so entrenched.

I want the White Hart Lane name to live on.
