He was superb last night. As he is most games. He is constantly on the move, first to press, first to drop deep to collect. He pulls out wide left and right to support and link. His cross pitch passing is pinpoint. And his specialty, that curved dipping ball where he drops it from a crazy angle, right over the defenders head and into an attackers path, is Pirlo-esque. And he has a bag full of goals and assists to boot.

Most importantly he has that reading of the game that only the likes of Scholes, Iniesta, Silva etc have... to be one or two moves ahead of everyone else, to know when he needs to move into or close down space, when to show, when and where to pass and what type of pass. When to dribble, shoot or drop off. He is an absolute top class, elite player.

I'm not surprised at his critics. My whole life I've noticed that people fail to appreciate these nuances of the game. That only the blood and thunder goals, tackles and skills get picked up on. They fail to see the craftsman, the link (or hook as the Argentinians call it), the metronome inside the clock. That is what Eriksen is for us. And I bet you those same people cry out for him when he moves on.

Oh how droll. I knew I would log in to find such comments because we have scored from a corner once. In other news Lloris is now the world's best penalty saver after his one save on Sunday.

It's utterly baffling which Eriksen some people must see. Yes he had a good 2nd half but the hyperbole in this thread is beyond belief. Jan was amazing today, Son has been amazing recently, Sissoko has been amazing relatively speaking this season but I wouldn't in any sense of the imagination label Eriksen as amazing unless we're discussing form in 2014-16 maybe.

I'll never forget a 1-0 victory over Palace at home a few seasons back where Eriksen made like a 5 yard pass to Son who ran with the ball 30 yards then scored his first goal for us. Someone (can't remember who) on here was praising Eriksen like he'd cured cancer while passing the ball. I've had my fun in this thread, I'll leave you guys to fight over Chris's soggy biscuit.

Any chance you can go support another team? You're so fucking negative and quite clearly get kicks out of putting our players down.

He was literally in the PL Team of the Year in 2017/18 and was our official Player of the Season in 16/17. No player in the entire league has registered more assists or created more chances than him since his debut, and he's also scored 63 goals from midfield in that time, 46 of which have been in the league.

You quite literally have no fucking clue.

@dtxspurs is right, he's a troll - I suppose if you just ignore him he gets bored and goes away
Thats what I did, but its always fun after Eriksen scores or does something great to come check in to see if he's piped in. Its typically pretty boring.

If you have to go 2+ years back to dig up one singular example that you also recreate in style of creative writing to fit your needs, I'd say the player in question is doing rather well.

There has been some progress in the contract talks in the past weeks, according to Alasdair Gold.

"In a question-and-answer session on Football London on Sunday (12.59pm), correspondent Alasdair Gold delivered the most encouraging update on the playmaker’s situation for quite some time.
The reliable journalist claimed, “Spurs are working hard to tie Eriksen up to a new deal and I’d heard there has been some progress in recent weeks”.

Really? Would be amazing if he stayed. We simply can't replace him in our financial situation.
That's not strictly true given how much we'd receive if he left. I'm sure £50m+ could get us Maddison or Kai Havertz.
Although I agree, i'd much rather that he stayed.

Not heard of the latter, but Maddison - he's younger? Sure, he might be like Erikson when he first joined us but we need someone with talent and age/experience

I'd sell my soul to @Paolo10 and become a staunch defender of Trippier along side him, if the club were to get Toby and Eriksen to sign a pair of new contracts.
