I don't know why, but i somehow had myself convinced (against all logic) that we would be bringing someone in today but had kept it quiet. Purely based on the fact that I believe it negligent not to strengthen certain areas of the team/squad that are relatively 'easy' to improve on.

It's very disappointing.

You maybe can knock Levy for a few things, but on his financial acumen I believe you are on shaky ground.

If it's "easy" who did you have in mind? Genuinely curious.

Some of you would have stopped being virgins by the time he goes

Has your mum dropped her prices then?

Nah, she operates a 'Food-Challenge' style pricing scheme. If you make her cum, its free.

But like with all of those challenges, it wont be long before your mouth's burning, eyes are streaming and you dont care about getting your photo on the wall - you just want to wash your hands, pay and leave...

City just signed some Croatian kid and loaned him back to his club.

Liverpool have spent £250M on players since January last year - I hope that is enough to see them through this difficult time.

Didn't they also sell one of their best players for at least half of that?

Let's hope Saints don't get a replacement for Austin - Levy might see him as a back-up for Kane who is happy to sit on the bench forever.

It isn't just about age though is it? Most clubs don't want to sell starting players in the January window. It will be a different story in the summer.
Don't ask me why we didn't sign anyone last summer though.

I don't like the message it sends to our players. Are they going to see our lack of investment in new players as a lack of ambition and want to move? We're just keeping our fingers crossed that the squad stays loyal due to Poch and the spirit he's generated around the club.

Buying new players isn't the only way to show ambition.

At a conference today and one of the speakers during her slideshow put in the quote from Einstein; The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.

As soon as I read it I thought to myself, "Fuck me that's Spurs in the transfer window".

Sky 'Sauces' reckon we fancy a bit of Batshuayi and the player would be keen, then I read he wants 160k a week...Spurs life
That’s why he is still at Chelsea. These crazy wages mean players are very difficult to move on if they are no longer wanted.

Completely agree.

I'm not overly fussed about the fact that we're not signing anyone to be honest. New players always take a while to adapt to Poch's methods, so it's unlikely that anyone would come in and make a big impact this season anyway. There was some gallows humour about it in the Palace match thread, but the fact is that our fixture list suddenly looks very manageable now that we're out of both cups. It's also nearly impossible to prise top prospects away from their clubs in the middle of the season.

So when you think about the fact that any new signings would be unlikely to make a big impact between now and the summer, the fact that the squad we have in place should be sufficient to handle the rest of the season just fine, and the fact that any player we sign now would likely be of a lower standard than what we might (hypothetically, in an alternate universe in which the club actually signs players) be able to get in the summer, I think it's for the best that we keep our powder dry and not waste our limited resources on players that Poch isn't enthused by.

Now, if we can't get the outgoings sorted and go into the summer window hamstrung by the same two fucking failed signings that Levy has refused to get off the books and are told that we've got to "shift the deadwood" and "create places in the squad for new signings," and it prevents us from getting business done in time for any new players to have a preseason with Poch, that will be a fucking shambles. With 18 fucking months to plan, there should be absolutely no excuses whatsoever for the coming summer window.

The problem with that is that history tells us that any summer deals will be done at 11.59 on deadline day. We're then into the realms of 'player has had no pre-season', 'Poch doesn't use players until they're settled in', 'it takes 6 months to get up to speed with the training regime' etc.. In other words, we've got another 12 months of making do with what we've got.

Liverpool have spent £250 million on players - but 1 injury and there season would struggle - vvd - if at any stage their front 3 were out who would score?

We have had the perfect storm of injuries and absences - this would cripple most clubs.

The last thing as a club we want is more deadwood stop gaps - it is very short term that will stitch us long term

Pfft.

I was recently banned from the transfer forum - and I thought I was being punished.

I now know the real punishment was lifting the ban....

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not, but I've always liked Charlie Austin and think he'd be the right profile for a Kane backup. Good finisher, experienced PL player, English/homegrown, and given that he may or may not have shit knees, it'd be in his best interest to take a low impact role with a good paycheck.
