Both Dier and Wanyama are out with injury, could be his opportunity.

Winks and Dembele likely to start I’d say - great opportunity from the bench though. Would be good to just keep picking up minutes.

We’re utterly hopeless in the transfer market so if we can keep developing players it would be a hell of a bonus!

I'm sure that is the plan.

As others said seems like the perfect storm for him. Both DMs injured multiple games piling up, if he doesn't get an actual opportunity now he might never. Hope he comes on.

As said above, depending on when or who he comes on for if it's not as a holding player, I do hope he shows the more expansive side of his game. As there is a tendency for someone like him to become stuck as a bit of a harrier.

If there's one academy player I've always said has the best chance of making it here or getting opportunities it is him so hoping this is the beginning of a promising career for him

He's 18, I want him to make it but let's calm down a little.

In the long-term I’d much rather Skipp come in and establish himself in the team rather than buying someone else’s talent.

What’s the point in having an acedemy otherwise?

As I’ve said few times in forum, our own players tend to bleed for the team a bit more.

It's better for continuity if some of our own come through as the transition is often easier and better if they are already In the fold.

I’ve not seen a great deal of this kid, but from what I have seen, there seems to be more than a touch of the “Continental” in his play. Doesn’t hold on to the ball for too long, rare that he has more than a couple of touches before releasing it, he’s mobile and appears to have very good spacial awareness, isn’t afraid to take the ball under pressure, keeps it simple where required, but also has the ability to pick a pass that can turn a defence.

I’m liking what I’ve seen a lot. He appears to have an excellent skill set that, if developed properly, could see him being an integral part of our midfield for years to come.

He’s a WGC boy too, which is my old stomping ground, so that just makes me even more interested to see him succeed.

I think this is how it will be for a while after the hike in construction costs on the stadium.

Have no issues if they are good enough. I don’t see much out there better than Winks. Ok winks and de jong are slightly different but both can still play deep midfield role and I see very little in it quality wise.

Will be interesting to see if he gets the chance.

We now only really have Dier, Winks and Sissoko for those midfield spots as Dembele is really vulnerable and Wanyama seems shot.

Do we buy another midfielder in January that potentially blocks his path or do we take a risk on him? He is only 18 but sometimes if you’re good enough you’re old enough...

Even in days of Mason and Bentaleb being golden boys in midfield I had this gut feeling about Winks and feel same about Skipp.

Essentially he’s not what we urgently need if we actually need anyone urgently. He would be more a CDM which Dier/wanyama/winks can all play. If anything it’s the dembele replacement we need which I wouldn’t categorise Skipp as.
Also we aren’t really playing a 2 very much. It’s either 433 or more a diamond like yesterday. And currently all of dembele winks sissoko dele eriksen can play the wider midfield role.

might get a few minutes at the end of the arsenal league cup game and early rounds of the fa cup or europa if we end up in that but otherwise i can't see it. i don't mean to be negative and i rate him highly(he's well ahead of where winks was at the same age) but if history is much to go by then even if he does make it here i wouldn't expect to see much of him in the first team for a good while yet.

It was great to see him come on last night. Being around the first team and preparing for a match and now getting out there. It's all great experience at this time in his career. He didn't get much of the ball but even in the few minutes he played he was always looking for the ball. Such great confidence and maturity to his game.

Song idea;

Every time he plays, my heart skipps, skipps a beat

No just me :cautious:

My like rating was for the bit about Skipp coming on and getting some minutes, not the song suggestion. ;-)
