Zaha continues to impress. Although we are fairly stocked up in that area zaha is just so direct he would be so good for us

Remember when we ‘nearly’ signed Barkley. Fun times.
Exactly the type of midfielder we were/are crying out for.
Yes and I remember him getting injured and I remember people on here saying we don't want him now he's crocked and I remember people saying he'll never be any good again and he wasn't that good anyway and I remember someone saying you'll all change your tune when he starts playing again.

If we really tried for de Jong then that must mean we’ve money to spend in January, then again our really trying wasprobably a £10m bid

We don't really need him. No way we keep Son, Lucas, Lamela, Alli, Eriksen and Zaha all happy. Especially as Alli and Eriksen hardly ever get benched when 100% fit.

Didn’t ITK say Poch wanted Zaha and Barkley as his main two targets last summer. Can see why.

I know Zaha got the pen today, but fucking hell the step overs and losing possession early so often doesn't equal £70m. I would love to see teams sit back v Palace (I know they won't) just to see how effective he could be. I would also like to see him get up after being touched and stop making out he had been poll axed.

JJ confirming that we really tried for De Jong but Overmars flat out refused to sell.

I think we need to accept that we aren't going to be signing any Davinson Sanchez style signings for the foreseeable future. I can only imagine we will be looking to bring in players who are much less on the radar of others as the price isn't going to be driven up.
Depressing.

How about if Llorente was sold?
If Llorente was sold I would hope for more a striker then a winger who can play up front. Ideally someone younger, a Jesus for example. Also ideally someone younger. I think if you pay 60 or 70 mil for Zaha you would expect him to start and Eriksen and Alli will be ahead of him and I wouldn't want him to play instead of Lamela or Lucas and we still have Son.

But, but, but the agent fees!

:joyful: OH JOY! :joyful:

It's my favorite episode of.....

" Ross Barkley - TOO GOOD! :woot: The only reason we didn't sign him was due to pesky agent fees! - BOO LEVY!"

What other piece of information, on-top of agent fees, do we know about Barkley at the time we had interest in January?

:singing:Sing it with me, friends - :singing: GRADE-3-HAMSTRING-TEAR :singing: - *tears vocal chords*

*Fantasy* Fit & Healthy Barkley - Tottenham acquire Barkley in-spite of Agent fees. (y)

*Reality* Grade 3 Hamstring Tear Barkley - Tottenham balk at Agent fees as uncertainty of injury coupled with Poch's training regime could mean MORE extended time injured (n)

Till the next time ( which will be the next time Ross Barkley scores or assists), friends :)

Surely taking a risk on an injured Barkley is the kind of move we should be making if we're looking to 'beat' the market. He fit our time-honoured MO of low-contract players which got us some good players back in the days when we'd actually pull the trigger. £22m including agents fees... in this market.. probably what we were asking for N'Koudou, who I guess wasn't carrying an injury (other than not being very good).

Is this the routine any time Barkley has a decent game now?

Why not take a punt? Well, there were plenty of reasons and hindsight is beautiful.

It'll be the same folk saying 'WAAAA stop wasting money on the likes of Llorente, Sissoko and Nkoudou, just bring in real quality' like theyre the mystic meg of the transfer window.

He may have been a spurs legend, he may have flopped. Hes succeeding currently under a different manager at a different club in a different system to ours. No guarantees.

considering our luck with injuries if barkley joined us he would probably be injured for 6 months before playing a match for us:unsure:
