I’m sure we did well when we had Lamela, Ali, Eriksen the season we finished 3rd when Leicester won the league.
The problem now is that group worked with Walker and top form Rose at fullback bombing down the field. That group now with Trippier and Davies/Rose is painfully slow.

Did Gomes make a save last night? I remember the Sissoko shot blocked by mariappa and dele volleying over the bar, but apart from that I'm struggling to think of a serious time we troubled him.

Thought we gave up way too many efforts at goal yesterday. Sanchez had an absolute shocker, only bettered in that regard by Davies who has fallen off a cliff.
Good point what has happened to the side too many players out of form or looking shit when previously they had performed well something is not right.

Romero, who happens to be the United 2nd choice and got sent off yesterday.
Oh, it was their goalie! Gazzaniga is a very good talent. As Poch said at the weekend, he spreads confidence to our defence.

We get up to speed later on in the season, every season. The team is geared to finishing strongly. It's what Ferguson's teams were built to do; Poch is a huge admirer of Ferguson. The likes of Liverpool and Arsenal start strong and then wither, every season.

Barcelona lost to the bottom of the league
Leganes last night.
Never mess with agendas by bringing in inconvenient facts. It's like every time we beat a top European team, we get told that they are on the wane. Just for clarification, being on the wane doesn't refer to an older woman on top of a balding footballer.

Listening! Well thanks for your assessment of the match then.

I don't want to get in an argument with you as you sound about 10.
How many first teamers did we have out?
How many did Watford?
Work it out.

Seriously I really don't understand how people can judge that performance as anything but poor/awful.
I can only think the younger posters get far more excited than old timers like me who expect a little bit more.
FYI, I watched Dave, Dee, Dozy, Mick and Titch perform The Legend of Xanadu on TOTP in black and white when the song first came out. In other words, disagreeing with how you saw the game has very little to do with age. The only point about the Carabao Cup games is to let them not derail the rest of your season: it's just a matter of getting through, because there aren't any extra points for style. The season is long, so while I wanted us to win, I was more interested in us getting through and that providing confidence to players who have not had much first team play. Liverpool play stylish football, but they got knocked out. It didn't seem to bother them that much though, because they have bigger fish to fry.

Should have seen my Liverpool fan workmate being miserable and moaning about it yesterday...

Maybe we will but poch often says about putting in and winning titles etc which yes we can't or won't win them but if he wants to try surely starting poorly and allowing rivals to pull away leaves too much to do later, is it not best to try and stay reasonably close from the get go rather than pick it up from around November.

Which is specifically why he targeted a good start this season and cited those reasons.
