If they really want 50 they can f*ck right off.
50 is a bit much but equally, in this market with a lad with his potential, HG and quite the sell on value if he proves his mettle in the Premier league, I think that 25 million was too low. If we had lowballed on Sessegnon who everyone seemed very excited about but is also unproven at PL level, would we have been OK with that?

Trouble with 50 million is they are passing all the risk to us whilst they are rewarded as if he has already achieved most of everything that is expected of him. At 50 million the risk/reward is out of balance even taking in to account the ridiculous fees being paid these days.

50 is too much but it's like any other type of negotiation (and Levy would appreciate it), you ask for a high figure and the other party will offer something lower but nearer to what you realistically expect.

Actually if he does make it in this currently overpriced market then he could end up being worth considerably over 50 million in the future but looking at it positively, his contribution to us on the playing field would also be worth way more. I still think anyway that 50 million is probably a high figure because they are conscious that they are dealing with a hard negotiator like Levy. He will rarely offer to meet the asking price.

In fairness, unless we have anything concrete going on, where else is our transfer budget going to go? We could save it for January but that's almost always a horrible window. I'm not saying that Levy should necessarily go in with this (potentially mythical) 50 million but no harm in going back in with something higher and there is always the add ons like playing for England, playing a certain amount of games etc. Obviously Levy Los never going to offer a sell on, which is fair enough but there are plenty of other options.

I bet he does love his boyhood club. But it’s another year in the championship,no chance of getting an England call and how many years( if they do get promoted ) to get top four of the premier league. Not in his playing career I’m guessing

Lets not lie, if Grealish is our only signing, it's not going to convince our star players of our ambition right?

My big worry with the lack of activity in the transfer window is how it will affect next season.
Put yourself in the shoes of any of Poch, Eriksen, Lloris, Verts, Alli or even Kane. What do you think they'll make of no new players coming in.
I know what I'd be thinking, 'we're going fkin nowhere here. We're never gonna win anything. I need a move.'
And Levys words will fall on deaf ears as they'll all have heard these hollow promises before.
If we fail to bring in any top players tomorow I think we may see a mass exodus end of next season.
What a disappointment. £150m to spend! What a load of shite that was. Cant even get a fkin championship player over the line.

Wonder how many times this will get said today.

Mass exodus is extreme but it is a cause for concern if we have another season like the last 2 no? Will be like groundhog day for the players

Jesus wept @wrd

Its not what I said was it..dot

I said it causes me concern it becomes groundhog day for the players. These are ambitious top class athletes they will want to move on if they feel they are stagnating.

People like Eriksen will not hang about, neither will Dele especially if they see the likes of Walker and Alder achieving things.

Have to say that Villa ITK sounded very level headed and well informed. Good chance this doesn't happen I think.

Maybe the £50m was bravado and £30-35m does it but that looks like a figure Levy might baulk at.

I'm going to give a mini round-up of what I know as there is a lot of rubbish being posted by the media and on social media.
In June spurs contacted villa. A fee around 25 million was informally discussed and suggested by Villa but NO fee or anything was agreed on. Tottenham were given permission to talk to Jack. Deal with Jack was agreed in principal. Over to his agent. His agent has been in regular contact with both Tottenham and Villa providing updates. Its his job to broker the deal. Last month Tottenham's original offer was around 18 million with add ins up to 25.
Everyone including Steve was aware that he would be off. An agreement was had at 22million plus add ons. I wont bore you with the ins and outs of the add ins.
Player contracts done. Agreement in place with Villa hierarchy.
Just waiting on green light. On Monday I think I posted about Levy wanting to wait until August. That was Levys decision again something to do with financial structure.
On Monday at 10:24 (Yes exact time) tottenham called it through.
A discussion was had and it was agreed that Jack would play against Hull as preparations had been made.
On Tuesday the story hit the media that a 25 million deal had finally been agreed.
The paperwork was done, just needed to be signed off by the owners.
The new owners rebuffed and said they don't want to sell ......
With all due respect to the owners they like many non football people do not understand the FFP rules. As a result villa have also had to wait and have lost out on players because they have no money.
The agent is still trying to push the deal through. Only contact atm is through him. I think Jack will put a transfer request in. He is desperate to play for England and see MP as the man to get him there.
The problem is rich non footballing men not understanding trying to show their power. But they need to understand for villas sake too.

Ten little signings standin' in a line,
Fulham got promoted and then there were nine;

Nine little signings; wouldn't that be great?
Ed wouldn't swap one and then there were eight.

Eight little signings who might be Tottenham heav'n.
One stayed at Lyon and then there were seven;

Seven little signings all with flicks and tricks,
One got loaned to Chelsea and then there were six.

Six little signings surely all alive,
Zaha kicked the bucket and then there were five;

Five little signings; who could ask for more?
Dortmund wouldn't sell, so then there were four.

Four little signings not exactly free
One met Raiola and then there were three;

Three little signings; I suppose that would do.
One wasn't home grown and then there were two

Two little signings linked in the Sun,
One rumour got pooh-poohed and then there was one;

One little signing left, so Dan proposed a sum
Villa said 'fuck right off' and then there were none.

:(

You must have kids, too :D

Love it!

probably not, but rocking up to work everyday at an amazing training ground, and walking out into the new stadium might. Players mention those 2 things a lot in interviews. Also, the new deals they are all signing would help.

*I'm not trying to excuse our transfer window, just saying we still some pretty cool shit we can be proud of*

Well there it is, a villa fan and a villa itk telling us that it’s not the fault of anyone on our side of the table.

Can’t see this being resurrected. Levy holds a grudge.

Cheers Journo. Hopefully the new owners will be told by others within the structure about the financial implications and by Bruce in regards to the state of the player’s own welfare. I do believe that he genuinely has players best interests at heart.

There will be some face saving and an undisclosed fee will be agreed (for now).

*Edit - for some reason this is spam :LOL:

Is there anyone in the new regime at Villa who actually understands the FFP requirements?
