Why shouldn't they? He's their player than can ask what they like.

I have said it before There is no benchmark for what a player is worth only what a team will sell him for, and what a team will pay for him.
Agreed. If it were Brighton or Huddersfield in for him the price would probably be lower. The price of a player is determined by what he buyer can afford. The starting price for any player City or United try to sign will be £40M, us probably around £30M.

Jody Morris now there's a name i remember, wasn't he tipped to be the next big thing, massively talented?
Never quite made it at the top level, been Chelsea's youth coach for a few years, now Fat Franks no2 at Derby.

I guess the size of the club buying a player is in some way a gauge of their quality. If they prove they are better than a brighton then the fee will go up if a club like us or UTD wants to sign them. Kind of a natural price set even if it's a bit hit and miss.

Line 7 of the last section (7. To be clear, to meet FFP we need to player trade. No shareholding sale of any size will contribute to meeting FFP. We must reduce costs and increase revenue) pretty much screams "We need to sell Jack Grealish. Sorry!"
Levy should reduce the offer now.

Villa are in Portugal right now on preseason. A gallery of photos was posted on their website, and JG is nowhere to be seen.
Apparently he is normally one of the focal points. Folk on Villatalk seem to think it is very telling.

The part that also interested me was even if he does sell part of the club that money wont help them with ffp. So they need to sell players no matter what.

Here's one of them trying to make himself feel better:

Erm, Tottingham will be selling one of their own quite soon - yer know that chap at the world cup about to win the golden boot? He will be sold, he will not stay. As gutted as I am about Grealish, even if you're in the top 4 of the prem you lose your best players. We move forwards without Jack but also thanks to his fee.

If Villa are so strapped for cash, why on Earth have they flown the squad out to Portugal for pre-season?
Could be they have some sponsorship paying for it. Could be they were contractually obligated to do so already. Could be a PR move to try and avoid appearing so bankrupt. Could be part of the reason they are in the mess they are is they are not particularly good at managing their finances and avoiding costly unnecessary expenditures with little benefit in the first place. Could be they are actually swimming in cash and all the press and itks on here are lying. (n):greedy:

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Pre-season training for Pochettino is important. From Poch’s own lips in December 2017:

“This summer was a very good example because we signed good players but it was so late and with no pre-season [for them], you pay,”

“You then need six or seven months for the player to be fit, adapt himself in everything and that is always against us.”

“The most important thing that we have been talking about is to identify our targets and, on 3 July, when we start our pre-season, they are here. If we don’t, it’s so difficult for them to help the team“

Nice to have something from the manager to back up this groundhog discussion.

I'm not quite as passionate about this preseason thing this year solely due to the World Cup factor...time will tell if the lessons have finally been learned.

Do think it's more important for imports to bed in as early as possible, especially if there are language problems.
