Kane would have to win golden boot and England win World Cup and carry on scoring PL/CL at a decent rate till end of year. Then I think he’d come very very close.

Not much chance. It will come down to who won the most between Messi and Ronaldo but it will be close between them. Either the La Liga and Copa Del Rey winner who scored more than anyone in the major leagues. Or the player who had a better World Cup with 4 goals and won Champions League withthe most goals in that competition. I think Messi will get it this time.

Kane has to win more to get it. I dont even think a World Cup alone would be enough for him. He will need to win something big with Spurs at least to get there. I do think a couple of years down the line he has a great chance though. He's in line to be the first to win it after the Messi and Ronaldo dominance. I do think FIFA will favour the Brazilian Neymar though. It will be hard for an English player to get it.

Neymar great player that he undoubtedly is would win the Rivaldo award for piss poor sportsmanship & bullshit acting hands down.
Sorry, slightly off topic but my blood boild watching these ridiculous antics !

You're right. We need to win something for Harry to be a genuine chance at a Ballon D'ior.

He'd have to be called Ronaldo or Messi. They don't hand it out to anyone else do they?
I think we see a new winner this year - both Messi and Ronaldo going out early will hurt their chances.

Kane needs to score more goals though - otherwise he is just a prolific striker. He needs to have a great start to the 2018/19 season - both in league and CL. (Assumes he gets the Golden Boot in the WC).

Winning the World Cup doesn't get you Ballon D'or, they changed the rules a couple of years ago.

Only domestic and CL performances count.

He can’t be considered world class if he can’t score in July and August!

If that were to happen I'm sure he would win it. Maybe add the goal to.win the WC to the above to make.sure :)

Since the 1974 World Cup finished, only 1 player has scored more than 6 goals in a single World Cup.

Would be nice to see how many tournements that’s is over.

Is Rooney on Page 4?
Lineker & Hurst was across 2 world cups. Owen, Charlton, Beckham & Gerrard played in 3.

Wayne "England's Saviour" Rooney scored 1 goal across 3 World Cups

The scary thing is with Kanes attitude and commitment he could actually be involved in 3 more World Cups.

Not sure if you’re being sarcastic or not but find that highly unlikely. Any links to confirm that. Weird thing is kane hasn’t really looked at his best since the last injury but is still scoring at pretty much a goal a game. He’s actually barely had a shot at goal which is very unlike him. Tbh it wouldn’t surprise me at all if it emerges he was carrying an injury the whole tournament. Anyone know how many goals this calendar year? Is he on to beat 2017 ?

20 from 24 games in 2018

the beginning of the season (2017 Aug-Dec) he scored 24 in 24 for Spurs so he would have to repeat that plus get another 12 (either for England or Spurs) to match last season so in short, unlikely unless England go all the way to the finals and he learns to score in August. In 2017 he hit a number of hat-tricks which he hasn't scored one since boxing day for spurs and just the one against Panama.

He's on 24. This time last year he was on 28.

Not sure where you are getting 20 in 24 for 2018, he has 7 in 4 for England, 1 in 2 in the CL, 4 in 4 in the FA Cup and 12 in 18 in the PL, so 24 in 28 total.

He stock is going through the roof. If he lifts the cup and gets the golden boot the sky is the limit for this man.

Its great when im watching the games in the pub and they all cheer him like he is a god. Hope he stays with us for a long time. He will win the ballon d'or,maybe not this season but it will come.

He is one of those footballers that is always striving to get better and wants to be the greatest and not giving up because he got his payday, like many footballers do.

The way Rooney’s career panned out makes me sad. When you go back and watch him when he was 15-19, he was truly a phenomenal player, beating players for fun, incredible pace, strength and skill, vision, and capable of regular moments of complete inspiration. Of all the players I’ve seen come through, Messi, proper Ronaldo and him are the only ones who made me feel I was seeing something completely new.

And he ends up like some cross between Vardy and the bloke who lives under the pier in my town. A sky dish wouldn’t look out of place on the side of his head.

My ex’s cousin was a Liverpool fan, and would always talk about Gerrard as England’s ‘best player’ with the kind of presumption I assume comes from spending all your time on RAWK. When I said I thought Rooney was the much better player, he looked like someone had just shown him the matrix.
