Planning application lodged to builsd an accomodation block at the training ground.

Can see a few objections coming in from locals - as there were with the covered seating area for 500 adjacent to one of the pitches. But the minimal visual impact and limited traffiic implication meant the appeal was not upheld, hope a similar result with this too.

We've also tried to please Ken Livingstone (in case he stands as Mayor again) by providing new ponds etc for some newts which will be displaced - we are providing a new area about 4 times the size of an area we may disturb !

Looks like we'll be having some interesting guests stay and train there (last page here):-

Good to let the accomodation out to other teams when they are in London.

But did you see the first justification for the block - 'As a rest area to allow THFC first team players to sleep between 'double' training sessions' - looks like Poch's methods are here to stay if that's put forward as the first justification !

I like how we continue to try and improve our already top notch training ground.

But what is the cost of all this and why are we adding more projects and costs to our already tight budget when we are dealing with building a £500m stadium while also trying to keep the first team remotely competitive? Or is this just adding infrastructure and valuable assets to add value to the club for a higher selling price and new owners will come in and oversee all the work being done?

IMO (and I may be being cynicall) but I think these were always planned (and budgetted for), but Spurs were advised that it would be easier not to include this to the original planning application to give it the best chance of getting approval.

Costwise this building might only be £4m (ie £100k per bedroom), so in the grand scale of things will not impact the stadium or even first team acquisitions.

So we'll have to sell Naughton for 8 mill then? Good luck with that, Daniel:cautious:

As I said in another thread, wouldn't it be a whole lot cheaper to send them to the Pied Bull or the King and Tinker between sessions? A few beers and a Ploughman's (or something) would set them up a treat.

Are we sure that Pochettino's here to stay?

The Yanks trained there last week so obviously it is on the map internationally for a training venue in which case an accomodation block is pretty obviously a great asset.
Simple as!

Agreed.

Southampton are building one for double training.

United have what they call sleeping pods for the same purpose.

This isn't a Poch thing, it's just where sports science is headed.

Many Olympians train twice a day, earning not a lot - makes sense.

Yes, most professional athletes train twice per day. I was quite surprised that Poch's training methods were considered controversial. Surely in Premiership teams where they only train once per day as a team, they will also be doing individual fitness on top of this?

Although it may cost a few million, presumably if overseas teams stayed there they would pay for the privilege, so it would, over time, pay for itself.

I see this is still 'Pending Consideration'. Moving along nice and quickly through Enfield's planning!
