I'd keep upping our Mata bid.. I reckon they'd take 40 million.

I think we should just keep upping by a tenner on the hour, ever hour, until they crack and let us have him so we go away.

Even if we don't get him (and we won't) I really approve of this magnificent trolling of Chelsea. Good work team!

Thats what i was thinking....wasn't there an ITK today saying "don't be surprised if we spend another £40m"

Toss a £40m offer across the fence and see what happens.

I can't believe i am saying make a £40m offer and be referring to Spurs....things are strange now

The only tiny little hope I could ever see this happening...is if Chelsea threw 50 million at United for Rooney, and then United go out and spunk it on Ozil or someone of similar ilk.

With Willian and Rooney they could let Mata go. But even then it wouldn't be to us.

I think we are bidding on Mata just as a fuck you to Chelsea. Love it.

There's even a small small chance that if Mata, and that's a big if, is feeling the cold shoulder off of Mourinho that the bid could unsettle him and disrupt them.

Would be hilarious. Keep messing with them I say

You know what I love, that all these signings are because of one sale. Man Citeh and chavski have spent 100m in a window because they have been given it to spend. We've spent it because we sold an asset. And yes, I am pissed.

So now we're talking Mata for 40 mill? We need a striker and LB. Who we gonna sell for that? Ade or JD and Lennon? Is that enough cash? Siggy? Can't really sell BAE, he failed a medical already.

Sorry, pissed in the sense that I have drunk too much alcohol, as opposed to being angry.

AVB obviously got on the phone to Mourinho and said said something like sell Mata to me if you're so confident of taking the title this year. C'mon! Special One? My arse!

I'd have Fryers as our LB all season if it meant we could have Mata in our team :p

In all seriousness he wouldn't be a necessity (and dare I say a luxury) buy but my God he's world class and would take us up another level.

Agreed though, back to reality (if there is one any more after this window) a LB and striker and I think we're done in the market.

Hey, i've just realised that the curse of the transfer banner is well and truly broken: First Bobby, now Vlad and Erik! Somebody whack Mata, Rodrigo and Draxler up there!

Holy guacamole I go away for a couple of hours and come back to the news that we're trying to sign Mata? What the hell is going on??? o_O

I fear I've slipped into the twilight zone. Any minute now a three-headed chihuahua is going to materialise in my front room and tell me that Messi has paid his own release clause to fight it out for a place on our bench.

Yeah, it's just not something I'm used to as a Spurs fan. You think about our bench last year and we generally had 2 youngsters that you knew wouldn't be called upon.
I was actually making a point of how 'top' a team we are.;)

Crazy depth, the likes we could never have imagined before.

Aye. Shut down a chav site or too even. I've no doubt AVB wants him again and DL is likely loving even the thought of ruffling Maureen's and Roman's knickers. Even if the bid is unrealistic.
