Can't believe I'm even typing this, but do we need Mata?

Yes he's brilliant, but aren't there other positions that we should improve ahead of his?

Am I right in thinking he'd compete with Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli, Lennon and Townsend or would he play elsewhere?

I think Mata is a signing too far in that I think the system would just not be conducive with all the players we've bought plus the overriding fact that Chelsea would never sell to us in a million years!

Brilliant player but our priority has to be at left back and striking options.

yep, and it almost looks like we've got one unofficially... Jan coming, then Eriksen... the ITK was that we'd been in touch with him for a few years.

Makes the Tommy question an interesting one...
I did hear Cruyff yesterday talking about Eriksen and us in a way that suggested we have a good relationship with them

I really doubt that we'll pay what Everton would want for Baines and that they would sell him on deadline day. Would be horrific business on their behalf.

siggy and bae straight swap id be happy with.. not likely i know

Yes. 1000000% yes. We're not talking about some 31 year old ex-world class player past his best. We're talking about a 25 year old world class player who would be the difference from a top 4 side to a title winning team. He's creative, gets assists and scores goals and is one of the top 5 players in the Premier League currently.

It's never going to happen. They will never sell to us and I don't think there's the money available for him. Also, his wages would be too high most likely.

Can't take any more, going to bed. I'm guessing earth will be hit by a giant asteroid and explode before we wake up.
The spurs way...

Totally disagree...Mata is one of the best around...he would instantly propel us to another level and I do not think we could sign him to be honest.

Thing is, it really doesn't matter (pardon the pun) what Mata does or says to engineer a move even if that was his desire - Chelsea WILL NOT SELL TO US!

No chance they'll sell us Mata, especially after everything that went on with Modric. Also the fact that they consider us rivals and they're a club that simply does not need to generate income from player sales means it's a non-starter for me. Hoping for some ITK as to whether this is true because Di Marzio seems to be very reliable.
