I don't understand the Mata mention in the Burt article considering I would be very surprised that even if Willian was brought in by Chelsea to replace him, Mata will probably be playing all the games before the deadline anyway... What is there to monitor?

Mata would be an amazing signing and a lot better then any other #10 we have been linked with IMO (not counting lamela) if he were to become available surely we wouldnt be the first in the cue for him? I have always liked hulk but think he can blow hot and cold but at porto he was a very consistent performer when I saw him...

C'mon do you think in all honesty after the events this week, that Spurs and Chelsea will deal with each other for Mata ?

we will sign a LB.. personally think coentrao as deadline day signing....
we will sign the CB.. romanian lad after their CL match mid week...

we will sign lamela by midweek....

that leaves striker and one other wing forward / attacking mid player to come in imo. money talks at end of day so who will they be..personally we should be taking easy option and demanding players off madrid. would love ozil...

ozil lamela and soldado has a bit of everything and plenty of goals in it .. give ozil the free role to roam and have the three boys of sandro capoue and paulinho/ dembele in behind.. fantasy over with but if madrid really want bale then ... we have the royal flush here so we shoudl take advantage of quality they have..

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Maybe the mention of mata was a seed planted to cause a little unrest at Chelsea

question....Hulks stats are pretty impressive under AVB at Porto. But i am unsure what role this was in. Some think he is a winger and some a forward. Does anyone know if he played more a striker role for Porto?

If so if Ade or JD is going could he come in as a striker? With Lamela in on the flank and Eriksen in a creative role

Works for me

Well didn't someone suggest that we were talking to Chelsea about something? Everyone assumed we were having a go about willian?

If, and it is still an if, Willian does sign for Chelsea, maybe it is a slight dose of karma for those of us spurs fans becoming slightly over zealous in the face of liverpools failed Willian bid....it seems apparent the Willian and his team are somewhat lacking morals, we've made done fantastic signings this summer, and still will so some more outstanding business I believe
Sorry about the neg rep. Did it on my tablet in error (Stubby fingers) but I have undone it. I agree and endorse your ststaement. A note too mods. Why put the neg rep button so close to the agree? Why not situate it by itself so that it is harder to neg rep someone in error.

He went for the money in Summer 2011, when we were close. Always remember his slimy mug laughing at the ghost goal in the semi final.

I remember the Bale/AVB hug after West Ham and thinking we are on the brink of something special here....would have Mata in a heartbeat.

Nobody thinks, or should think, he's a winger. He's a left-footed forward who plays on the right and cuts inside. The idea with a player like him is that he plays on the right of a 4-3-3, which it would certainly appear is what we're attempting to do under AVB. Honestly from what I've seen, Hulk reminds me of a souped-up Defoe, just in a different position. Similar goal-hungry mindset, similar direct play, just Hulk is more talented. My worry is that, like Defoe, though he'll put up decent (or in Hulk's case, outstanding) numbers, you can't really build a team around him and he doesn't really have a place as a first option for a team looking to really make noise. ALSO, not unlike Defoe, when he was at Porto he picked up a reputation as being something of a flat-track bully, though I can't really speak to that as I'm much more familiar with Defoe's day-in, day-out record than Hulk's.

Lamela is supposed to be a more central player, though he has played on wing cutting in. This is largely because of Totti's presence and mini-renaissance at Roma; from what I've seen from Roma fans they view him as Totti's heir, which would be in, essentially, a free role (they call it a trequartista.) He would be a very interesting addition, as there's a pretty compelling argument to be made that he's one of the most talented young players in the world. The statistics show him to be an absurdly talented dribbler, I believe he had the third-most successful dribbles in Serie A last season. It's hard for me to believe we'd get him, because that just doesn't seem possible, but if we do... oh man.

Mind games mate, Jose can't keep 7 attacking midfielders happy with three positions in a 4-2-3-1. Someone is going to miss out on a lot of games, we release a story saying we're interested and the message to Chelsea players is 'you know you all can't play'. Creates unrest. Good stuff. I suspect we'll also be hearing a lot about players we have no interest in, smoke and mirrors to ensure we get our targets in the middle of all the noise. Well, that's how I'd play it now, used to like and respect mourinho but what he did in that press conference lacked a lot of class.

Kursaal, I really appreciate you passing on the info, that is proper whoring right there. With that said, it would be appropriate in this case to pass on the source of the information so somebody can determine if it is proper ITK or a WUM at work.
It was from ftl.forum. my cousin is a member. Will have to ask him again who posted it but said he went to view Fryers flat and got talking and player told him he's being loaned out. Vlad was from same site. I am new to forums so dont know etiquette but I will ask for sources next time. Many apologises.
