Soldado has got s better goal per game ratio than Benteke. 4 in two Soldado has got. In fact as he's only played 2 half games it's a 4 goal per game ratio

For Christ sake, just let it go, he made his choice - as did we. Move on.
I was talking about a player and the game, there's no moving on or letting go of anything. I like Soldado too, and I'll watch what he does and talk about his qualities too...move on.

what is so wrong with posters expressing their appreciation for Benteke, none are giving Soldado the stick. I too am a great fan of Benteke. I actually watched yesterday's game because of him. Arsenal were marking him so much and this gave Agbonlahor the room he needed. I STILL WANT Benteke at SPURS.

£25 million up front, 10 million up front. Doubt we've spent 25 million in cash altogether this summer. The real mystery is why Benteke didn't apply more pressure to get his price down, but we may end up saying the same about Bale.

Would you would complain if we bought Ronaldo and Messi as well?

soldado is hardly in their class, benteke was a better fit on and off the pitch. on the pitch we're building a powerful, direct side so instead of buying the player that perfectly fits that(benteke), we buy soldado who is used to playing in a highly creative and technical valencia side, a player who scored zero goals from outside the box last season so he obviously relies on the supply he gets, are we going to give him the same quality of supply? questionable at best. soldado would've been a better fit for chelsea where he can finish off the chances oscar/mata/hazard etc create for him. benteke statistically touches the ball nearly twice as much per game as soldado, he's not just an off the shoulder finisher, he's heavily involved all game, you can go direct to him and he'll cause defenders all kinds of trouble.

off the field, i don't see how spurs can afford to pay £26m on a 28yr old striker, the only way i could fathom such an outlay is if we were going to keep bale and go for the title this season, without bale we have no chance so if we don't finish top 4 this season we've just paid £26m for a "prime" striker to help us finish 5th? benteke fits everything that has helped spurs get to where they are now, he's young(22), highly talented, he knows the league/country/language and has friends at the club already. soldado's 28, has never played in england, can't speak english, i'm not sure he's any less of a risk than what benteke would've been.

Definitely not looking like a one season wonder though.
We've got our targets, I wouldn't have minded both Soldado and Benteke but we'll get by.

Complain for years we don't have a world class striker.

Sign a world class striker.

Complain we signed the wrong world class striker.

Only at Spurs...

Just for the record we got 0 penalties awarded in the league last season so yesterdays goals from Benteke don't really count as we never get pens. ;)

Firstly you know nothing about Benteke off the pitch so are not in a position to know who is a better fit personality wise.

Secondly Soldado over the last 4 seasons is the third highest scorer in the Spanish league. We play with 1 central striker and Soldado has consistently scored in one of the top 4 leagues in the world, Benteke has only done so for one season.

To fit within our team the central striker needs good ball control and an ability to link well with others and bring them into play. Benteke showed last season he lacks in that area. His ball control and distribution when part of passing movements was poor, he would lose the ball to quickly when cleared out of his defence putting his side straight back under pressure. I suggest you sit down and watch the game at the Emirates against Arsenal last season to see what he contributed to that game. What exactly did he contribute apart from 2 penalties, and Soldado takes penalties, yesterday. The Match of the Day highlights didn't show him doing anything, Agbonlahor did all the work so I don't know what you are basing your assumptions on. If you control a ball and shoot that's 2 touches, if you shoot first time, one will have twice as many touches as the other, does that therefore they must have been a better team player, no.

Benteke's wayward finishing cost Villa a Wembley final, when he missed sitter after sitter against the might of Bradford City in both legs, so when it really mattered to his club in what were big games for them he was found wanting.

If we are moving to a 4-3-3 system the the wider two have a midfield responsibility to perform as well which he can't do. He doesn't have the defensive qualities or the control and passing ability to perform it. Benteke needs more space and more touches to score goals than Soldado who likes to hit the ball first time. So both have to play central as your finisher. One player has scored goals for a year, one has done it over time and in the Champions League, so has proven himself against the best teams in Europe.

Benteke will get better but that is not what we are after in a striker, we can't afford to wait. We need the finished article now.

There are 3 new managers for the top 3 teams. None have 'their' squad, all have what they have inherited. Now is a chance to go for it and the club have done so. The riskier option of a potential one season wonder, and I'm not saying he is, but potentially Benteke is a one season wonder, there have been plenty, is not the option to take now.

We have bought quality, you should be backing that. Some people are just never happy.

Nah that's fine I suspected I would get the odd ironic rating for that comment the minute the pen was award.

Would say that Soldado looked cold as ice in taking the pen. :D
