Not sure the club needs to be transparent. The club came out very early on and said, fuck off he's not for sale. Bale remains a Spurs player after RM's aggressive and sustained media war. So...

Wait, are you suggesting that our Chairman not have a daily fireside chat with the supporters to say the same thing every day. Blasphemy!

It will be great to see him run out for us tomorrow, your right! Oh hang on.......
It is a worry that he is apparently injured. However if he is faking it, is it really a clever move? I mean if he does go to Madrid this summer, which I highly doubt, then he will be expected to perform from the start, and he won't be match fit.
Personally, I think whoever doesn't play tomorrow probably won't start our first fixture. Praying Sandro and Kaboul get some game time, but doesn't seem likely :(

I'm sure I read somewhere yesterday that Sandro is hoping for at least 20 mins tomorrow

Nice formatting!

That would make my day if the lad managed to make an appearance. Can't wait to see him back.

Get King back to cover while we're short of centre backs? He hasn't trained for over a year, but since when did that matter? ;)

There's always "inbetweenies" its the area where deals are made. Its business and unhappy £85m+ players don't stay at clubs, just to make a point.
Doubt that will happen here.

Bale is becoming just as much a commodity off the pitch as on it. Levy knows this, Perez knows this, and team Bale know this.

Our asking price will be met, or it won't, ergo, Bale stays, or leaves. There is no middle ground on this one IMO

And David Pleat as well.

I had already fulfilled my quota of Pleaty jokes this week. And that's not an well you want to sip from too often. People notice.

so it was my first thought, and the mere fact that I could go with JK as my fall-back is just lucky, so excellent job (y):)

It's pretty surprising the lack of ITK on a CB. I'm curious if Capoue is the answer. Which in my mind would be really worrying as it's not his best position and while I love Kaboul, I have no faith in him staying healthy a whole year.

I wouldn't worry, we know we need a proper one and Capoue being as versatile as he is will help prevent another CB crisis happening. I think we could leave it late though, if we aren't convinced by Toby then we could go back in for Chiriches after the CL qualifier.

Leaving it late could be dangerous business, though. We've seen how that can sometimes work out but also end up as a grasping at straws move (i.e. Dempsey) and with Arsenal at the end of the window, having some sort of working relationship between our CBs will be key with Arsenal's movement. I think we could get away with a covering CB against Palace but I'm not so sure about Swansea. Ideally we would bring in someone who can be a good option at CB next week, give him a week to acclimatize and if Dawson isn't ready by Swansea have said player step in next to hopefully a healthy Jan.

I don't think it should be too long until Daws and Jan return as a partnership (Arse game i'd predict) and Capoue will do a job in the meantime alongside Verts presumably. In total agreement though we need a CB as quickly as possible, we shouldn't have let go of Caulker IMO and we simply can't afford to go into the season hoping to be contenders on all fronts with only 3 natural centre backs, including one with fitness issues.

If it was a decision Levy/Baldini/Whoever made on their own and had no input from Caulker, it was a bad one.

FFS! Getting drunk & chatting up your sister in law, does not a good night make.
It's a little too obvious...

Welcome Capoue...
