We should all chip in for a PI to follow Baldini across Europe watching his every move, record conversations, photograph scouting lists from his briefcase with a super miniature camera, capture grainy photos of him making love to various players wives, leaving dead horses head's in club president's beds, then we create massive flow charts and diagrams and timelines like when that mental chick from Homeland goes all crazy and covers her entire apartment in photos and crayon arrows, then we will understand the key to the universe and can all high five etc etc

And yes. I have thought about this a little too much.

Package arrives:
'What is this?'
'It's the Baldini file you asked us to compile, sir. Full details of all his movements since signing a contract with Tottenham, it's all there, sir, I think you'll find we've done a comprehensive job. You should be able to formulate an effective plan to implement a full understanding of all of Tottenham's transfer targets'
'You don't say...'
'Sir, is everything ok?'
'No. No it's not.'
'Sir?'
'It's September the fucking 3rd, Poindexter! The ITK forum is dead, Madrid took Lennon instead, the fax machine is offline, people have gone back to their lives! Ah forget it...'

I thought we established that it was dependent upon Bale's sale? Either through players coming to us from Madrid or with the Bale funds. I'd love to think Lamela would be here in the event Bale was sold. He's not as good right now, but he's also 3 years younger.

What if the info about Joe Lewis giving us a £50M interest free loan is true? Added to the extra £35M+ we will receive from the new TV deal and the money already budgeted each season for transfers + the money from outgoing transfers we might well be able to buy Lamela now and still not need to sell Bale this season.

What if Levy and Lewis have decided that this is the year not only to definitely make the CL spots but with all the other title contenders in transition we will never have a better chance of winning the premiership?

Then surely playing the long game on Bale makes perfect sense. Everybody is waiting on this move. Once Bale goes it opens up the other major moves eg Ronaldo to Man Utd, Suarez to Real Madrid or Arsenal, Rooney to Chelsea or Arsenal etc. The longer the window goes on without us selling Bale the more likely it is that someone else will blink first and make a move they really don't want to. Apart from Man City we are the only team in the top 6 strengthening our squad. What if Levy plays a blinder and at the end of the window we have shifted our deadwood and added Paulinho, Soldado, Chadli, Lamela & a new CB & LB and we keep Bale! :D.

We will have potentially screwed not only RM but 4 of our Champions League rivals :sneaky:.

If the latest ITK is true then let's meet each other at either 100mEuros, or 80mEuros+Coentrao.
A fair deal which we should get done sooner rather than later.

Lamela would prob cost north of 35 mil and Roma would prob ask for a large part of that upfront. I can't see Levy spending anywhere near that much regardless of selling Bale or not. Would love the guy but Roma don't need or want to sell and although Lamela would prob be quite happy to come I think he would also be happy to stay. Roma fans love him, he is only 21 and he is being groomed to be Totti's successor. Would love him at the club as he will be a superstar in a few years but I just can't see this deal happening.

We are going to be very strong this season and really be a force to be reckoned with.
Sorry but i do know what is happening with Gareth currently as of today and a load of crap being spoken. I appreciate all the other ITK's passing on info but you really have to take with a pinch(like mine) as you dont know how far they are from the source and who is telling their source. What i can guarantee (this is why i'm retiring)that they arent as close to the actual story as me. I dont mean that in a derogatory way at all its just a fact.
I personally really hope this all falls over and we get to keep Gareth however its just not the case unfortunately at this point in time.
I wont comment either on why AVB is saying something different.
Either way its going to be an exciting season for us IMHO.

JJ, do you expect to see a current Real Madrid player play for Spurs this season?

I can't imagine JJ would be saying that without having some sort of information that we will be reinvesting the Bale money. Sounds like, despite knowing we will be selling Bale, we still have more work to be done in the window and it could be substantial. Just how I read it at least. It'll be interesting for sure. I guess it will come down to how the new faces acclimatize.

Ha ha love to answer that one.
Ok, i think i can say that my answer would be more positive than negative once the GB deal happens...

I'm struggling to get excited as I thought your implication was it'll be 3 players in and 2 from Madrid. I presumed one would be Soldado and the two madrid boys Coentrao and Di Maria. Hopefully I've read your info wrong on that front as I feel with Bale going and only bringing in 2 more is poor.

Love us to get Suarez or Lamela. Only players who can go close to appeasing the Bale departure for me.

Cheers JJ.

I really hope this saga is resolved, one way or another, THIS week.

I'm worried that we won't have time to secure replacements if this drags on.

I took it as AVB making a move to place Levy and the club under pressure, and to try to force away the issue of a sale. Im not sure AVB is all too keen to lose Bale, even with money coming in. This is going on the assumption that our great leader is running the transfer show above AVB's head. That, with Lewis supposedly involved with RM now, makes me think that we are likely close to a big money deal, enough for him to take part.

Edit:

I also still believe it there is a strong chance that the 50m that Lewis supposedly gave the club was to identify and purchase players in place of Bale, before he is sold. This way, we may conduct our business without the world knowing we absolutely have pockets lined with money. We would then purchase our targets, sell Bale, and make an announcement of his sale almost simultaneously with the purchase of new players. It would be quick business, and Lewis would get his interest free money back instantly. Call me a spurs conspiracy theorist now, I suppose.

Can I just say that I am so thankful that we signed Roberto Soldado? Seriously, this is a guy who for the past few years is used to having all the pressure on him in order for the team to succeed. He's obviously going to be hugely important to our Top 4 hopes and I love the fact that he comes with the knowledge and experience of how to handle that. New league aside, he's performed on the biggest of stages and the more I think about him leading our line the more excited I get, even if Bale's not in the picture.

Will we be a force come 1st game of the season or by the end of the window? Want everything wrapped up in the next week or so. Can't afford another slow disrupted start.

I'm gonna say it...

If we get what is mooted in the press for Bale, and it's reinvested, we will be a stronger unit than if we keep him.

If we bring in another 3 top class players, and lose one through injury, we will still have 2 of those top class players in the team.

If we keep Bale and invest little more in the squad and he goes down with injury (which he WILL at SOME point in the season), we will struggle without him.

I'm also itching to see some other members of the team take some responsibility and think that's more likely to happen without him.
