Also, I don't know where Bale thinks he will fit in to the team at RM? I think they will want to play him at LB. That's how crazy they are over there. Just shoe-horn them in any-old how.

Where else realistically would you see him fitting in to the team? I'm not so sure he would even be a first eleven player there. Maybe on the bench a lot like RatBoy.

He must be thinking about this musn't he?

---- Isco ----- Ronaldo ----- Bale ---
------------------ Ozil ----------------
--------- Modric ----- Alonso --------

Just noticed Real Madrid have a goalkeeper called Jesus, gotta get him in the Bale deal.

Are you being serious? Seriously?

Well yeah. They have a wealth of attacking talent there: Ronaldo, Isco, Ozil, Morata, Jese, Benzema, Di Maria, Illaremendi and Casemriro with Modric, Alonso and Khedira more CMF's.

Not to mention Kaka, Sahin and any youths they want to bring through like that young Russian bloke who is a left winger.

Ronaldo and Benzema are pretty much nailed on starters. I can't see Bale playing in a MF 3. So there is one position left up top maybe? He will have to compete with a lot of players for that role. He may get then nod to start with just because of the fee paid but he took a long time to settle with us didn't he? They have no patience over there, if he doesn't hit the ground running then he may find himself in and out of the team. Then they may try him somewhere else just to get him in the team and playing as he was so expensive and play him at LB or maybe not at all? Who knows for sure?

I may be wrong but I don't think he will waltz in to the team quite so easily. Its a fresh start, starting from the ground up again. I just don't think it is all going to be plain sailing.

Ali Z timeline

Madrid have made a small offer and Bales head has been turned!

Madrid have made no offer whatsoever! I repeat no offer!

Madrid have made a small offer that do include players and Bale has no idea!

:/

Is Benzema a nailed on starter though? In pre-season they have been playing Ronaldo as the false nine with two either side.

Thing is, if we sell bale and get lamela and coentrao, I still feel we will need another quality player, because we would effectively only be switching bale with lamela, which is a pretty big downgrade.

Would need a young cb and a creative rw still then we'd challenge imo

I love this! Been doing the conga dance all day here in Sweden. Bale will stay 1 more year. I have an old relative she is like a shaman that can look in to the future she said to me that Tottenham will win the league and Bale will be top scorer.

Soldado, Lamela, Paulinho, and Chadli. I feel comfortable there is more goals and assists than we were reliant on Gareth for last season.

Does that count as ITK?

Isn't that the most important thing in the end? Sure, it'd be fantastic to have Bale back, but with those 4 added in playing in positions that are natural to them, they are upgrades on 3 positions occupied by other players last year. If we were to bring in a guy like Lamela/Dzagoev and they can put together a similar season to what Bale gave us a couple of years ago (10-12 goals, 6-10 assists) we will be absolutely fine.

I honestly think Chadli could really take the league by surprise and turn out to be our best signing we make this summer.

I hope is an under the radar signing, he seems to have everything in his locker to do well here.

I think you're right, but perhaps the only thing we'll lose is that fear-factor that Bale generates from the big boys, the likes of United and Citeh. Also he was coming up with big goals, in "clutch situations" as the Americans put it. This is something to lose.

Someone brought up an interesting point elsewhere, but Everton are currently in San Francisco for the International Champions Cup where they played Juventus last night. The pictures taken of Dempsey tonight were are San Fran's Airport. Perhaps their officials are there and he went to meet them in San Francisco to discuss personal terms? I really don't think he's going to the MLS and Everton would be a good fit for him, actually. They've got a history of bringing on Americans and Tim Howard is currently there.

It'd just be weird to send him there just to negotiate unless we are looking to deal him quickly as we have other things in the pipeline. This is essentially me thinking out loud.

If Bale goes, we'd likely have at least 4 new players coming in. I'd absolutely love to see the following: Coentrao, Alderweireld, Lamela, Ljacic, and Eriksen. All would have reasonable wages, and only Lamela would have an excessive transfer fee. That would actually be realistic, financially. It would make us pretty dynamic, too.

We really don't need Eriksen. I'd much rather take the money from Eriksen/Alderweireld and buy Kurt Zouma. He'll be a better player than both of those guys in the long run. But I agree with your point essentially.

Where would Juve fit him in the side though? ;)

Interesting. If Moyes was still Everton manager that'd sound very plausible, but I really don't think Dempsey is a Roberto Martinez type player. Dempsey's attributes don't really lend themselves to his style of play, but who knows, maybe Martinez is more pragmatic than I give him credit for.

It sounds like he was going from SFO to Seattle. Which would leave the Seattle Sounders. I am honestly so confused by all of this. I would think Dempsey is still a few years away from going to the MLS (where old players go to retire).
