Roger Morgan on SO

I think Levy should play Marca and Real at their own game. Start briefing our papers that they've offered us £125m and we've still turned it down.
All the while Bale's value in popular perception goes up and up. For instance, he's now widely viewed as a £85m player on the back of some wild reporting in the papers/internet. At the start of the summer I thought £70m might tempt us. See how they like them apples. When they start getting quoted £125m I fancy they might pipe down a bit.

As for Gareth being distraught, I think that's a bit of agent bluster. The boy's a pussycat. He'll suck it up.

Telling the media that the club has been in contract talks with Bale for a year but he hasn't signed a new contract wasn't exactly the smartest thing in the World to do either and only added fuel to the fire.

I can only speak personally, but that didn't fuck me off anywhere near as much as Redknapp doing the sales pitch for the team that tapped up our player.

Regardless of the itk and sunday papers, I am still slightly concerned about the lack of info coming from bale himself. He is being too quiet for my liking. All the way along I've been confident he'll stay, but starting to get more doubts as summer progresses...
Man up. It would be worse if he answered the question constantly

Bit More from Roger Morgan about lies being posted

Lies indeed, my friend, but Spanish ones mostly. Unfortunately they are being regurgitated.

The agent business intrigues me. Bale is looked after by Barnett, who is himself close to Levy. Can't see Stellar Group being welcome at the Lane if they cause a stink over this. On the other hand, Levy may be working towards an end game of his own choosing.

Maybe he will take the cash, but why rush into it. Any delay might affect the Suarez deal as Real definitely have one eye on that. Which in turn affects our noxious neighbours. We definitely shouldn't roll over yet.

How desperately do Real want him? Also, all this talk of £80m bids - what sort of structure? They may be offering small downpayment and paying over 6 years. If it's gonna happen let's have the bulk up front, please.

We'll all need some answers next week when they are back from Hong Kong so it doesn't overshadow AVB's pre-season. His hands were tied today and he looked tetchy. Hope Soldado arrives to soothe his discomfort. That's an opinion, I have no fresh info.

Shame for Gareth if it ends messily now but at least we have some good new players in.

As for leavers, be surprised if Ade and Benny are around at start of season. Only guesswork though.

Why should Bale have to contribute to the circus?

If Marca are just making shit up why would he add fuel to it by making any comments at all, anything he says will be taken indifferent ways depending on the person reading it anyway.

Even if he was to say "I Have no interest in Joining Madrid, they are a second rate team with a load of foreigners supporting them"

Someone would take that that he is definitely joining Madrid, so he cannot win. And god forbid he use the word "flattered" as we'd be talking about that for months.

There must be many posters rather alarmed at GB's reported stance. I think there is something to it. The failure for CL was another example of Spurs digging out failure in the jaws of success. The Guardian sourcing the story is enough for me. It reaffirms that AVB refusing to confirm Bale pressing for a move has validity. And very strong. He will stay for a season but very uncomfortable.

Spurs need Bale to stay another season, with CL or more. The money now is almost useless.

Bale knew there would be no CL footie in May. He has signed various sponsors contracts and is the face of BT footie (i think). So off to HK he goes knowing the Club is spending more money than at any time in it's history and he himself is being offered a new contract. He then decides fuck this i no like chicken badge anymore?

I don't think so somehow.
