I think it's certainly possible that the Soldado deal is as good as done. It's never 100% until all is signed sealed and delivered with the player holding the shirt on the official site. However I can understand if a deal has been agreed with Valencia that they would want to do some PR work in the media and sign a replacement first.

All the talk from Valencia is to save face because they're selling arguably their best player. They need to make it clear in the media's eyes that they are fighting tooth and nail to keep him. The last thing they want is to look like they have rolled over and sold a great player. I expect they'll have a replacement lined up before finalising the sale.

I'm not knocking your opinion at all mate, but surely if it was done then he wouldn't have been doing the usual fitness tests etc. There is making things clear to the media etc, but letting the player do any sort of training that could cause injury etc, especially in a huge deal such as this one would surely be a no no?

Agreed. Also I would like to say that this probably how we would be acting if and when Bale is sold. Thankfully we are not in the same financial situation that Valencia are. This we can resist even ridiculous bids (rumours). Levy deserves credit, although all of Spain is suffering in the crunch.

But then, he is a player for them and regardless of whether he is leaving them or not, you would still expect to continue with the schedule, just in case the deal falls through.

I don't have contact with the club, i always stress to make that clear. My old role/job used to be, but not anymore. Obviously those guys who do are my old chums and we still talk a few times a week.

I will never say "done deal" or anything like that as i don't know. But if wheels behind the scenes start moving you'd assume there is some serious interest.

In the past i've put effort in explaining some of the mechanics, if you read Stoof's thread on Letters of Credit and Invoice discounting it will add context to where i come into place. Just as any "deal" for any business a preparation is in place. Whether it happens or not i haven't got the foggiest.

My information may not always turn out to happen, but i'm always here to answer questions and explain where we were. the transfer aspects are me adding 1+1 and posting my interpretations. That's where i cannot be 'right'. But when i have posted information on players we have not signed, i at least know there has been a lot of work in terms of offers or preparation etc.

We all know football, how many bids are actually successful and result in transfers?

as for your question, my thoughts, not fact, would make me think we're at the point that if an agreement is made, we can complete it soon. If it's not already been completed...etc etc...if it happens at all.
Thanks Wishkah! I always find your info interesting, as i was in Banking for 17 years myself. Good to know things are happeniing behind the scenes. As you said does not mean they WILL happen but at least the prep work is being done.

Even if it doesn't happen, the proof of funds at least shows we have the ability to spend that amount, right? Or am I wrong?

This really does make me laugh. He is still a Valencia player so of course he is going to train. I really don't see what the big deal is with him just getting on with his pre-season preparation with his club. Any player can get injured at any time, fuck me he could have a car crash on the way to the airport. Its highly doubtful he would get injured to the extent of the transfer not going through, and if that happens then so be it, nothing we can do about it. We could just as easily sign him and then he gets injured shortly after. It's really not worth worrying about.

I've got a question!

The club makes an offer, so it must know how much money is in all these seperate accounts in order to bring them all together. So if we take out £5m here, £100k there and total up to £30m or whatever the amount is, how the hell do we get each account to sign off on taking those amounts out? And what do these accounts do when not involved in making shit happen at the magic wand of Baldini?
I'm confused by this new information

Cant see why you're confused unless you don't operate several bank accounts .

The club is simply consolidating funds, from several accounts, in to a single account to show the selling club that it has the required funds available to make the single transfer payment. Not too difficult is it ??

Yeah but I'm basing this on him being "signed" in which case he would technically be our player. If he's signed, as we were discussing then at 30mill odd Euros there is no way he would be training just to save face with the media, IMO.

Me too, I don't want Liverfool getting their grubby little hands on him and I would also have to kill my flat mate.
Can't even begin to imagine him at Pool! I do however think he is an absolutely world class striker and feel he would make every bit of £30mill difference to our team!
