why will we forfeit if he trains? this would of confused me less if it was cryptic?

Sounds like we've just set them a deadline. We're probably trying to make sure they don't drag it out to get other teams interested. Or we're worried about them getting him to sign a new contract.

Maybe, but i dont see many other natural right backs at United, more players who can play there, much like Verts at left back for us.

Well perhaps, but I'd be very surprised to see Moyes shell out so much purely for a back up right back (would have to get into double figures for Soton to sell imo) who doesn't have a great deal of versatility to his game. The presence of Smalling and Jones means that there need be no desperation for a second out and out rb. United have much bigger priorities.

If we get 5.5m or anything near that for Naughton I will be amazed. I was thinking 3m was reasonable.

I'd like to think you will be close to being amazed.

One decent season at Norwich in PL playing RB/LB and CB, after 2 seasons in Championship team of season at RB. Agreed he's not a Top 4 PL club side first team player but think he has decent experience to offer and versatile to a mid/lower PL side with minimum risk that he won't perform. Can see £5m being possible.

Regarding the Naughton ITK, wasn't Adam Smith rated as a better prospect? If so, no need to spend the Naughton fee on a replacement, whole fee straight back in the pot to balance the books. I'd be happy enough having Smith step up as RB cover if Naughton is sold, plus we have Kaboul, and Livermore who have covered there in the past.

What Naughton ITK?

Starting to get a little uneasy with Soldado, I'm starting to dread seeing ITK on the lines of "Osvaldo is close".....

He's still a better striker than anything we have. I'm not going to complain if we bring on Osvaldo.

We're also not Manure or Saints fans so while your info on Naughton was interesting your other posts belong in General Football for those who want to discuss other clubs. Cheers
