Who else have we got?

My point stands though, we need quality cover for our starting 3 of Sandro, Paulinho and Dembele.

Holtby and Carroll - quality cover. You so not need £15m, £60k p/w players to back up every other player in the first 11. And you don't need cover for every single individual player - those two could easily cover the three players you mention.

We are not Man United, we do not have infinite resources an we cannot keep top quality players happy by sitting them on the bench.

Sounds like you're describing Rat-boy!
Ha, i wish! He's not as quick a thinker as Modric and doesn't have anywhere near his ability to get out of tight spots, but he'd offer much more defensively. He reminds me a bit of Alonso, though no where near as good, but with the ability to get forward a bit more.

I think Anderson would suit a 3 system midfield. Lot of people don't rate him but he always puts a shift in and if anything, it will mean the fucker can't score past us as he usually tends to.

He could do an own goal.

McCarthy is a decent player but would be a weird signing when you consider we have Holtby and Carroll who should be floating around those central areas.

Think McCarthy is a good player, but he surely wouldn't start with all fit and we need to spend the £ elsewhere.

As long as we've got Benteke and Chadli lined up then McCarthy would be a decent signing. Overrated IMHO and not as good as McArthur but definitely has a higher ceiling and is capable at defending as well as attacking. Around £10m would be a fair price.

If all these are signed, Uncle Joe really doesn't just opens his purse; he literally is pouring things out of it.

Agree but united don't have a lot of cover for cm, carrick aside there was just ten games each for the others

But people forget that siggy is a CM in a 433

So we have Paulinho, Sandro, Dembele, Holtby, Siggy and Carroll for 3 spots

I think we should be selling a Gareth Bale futures contract to Real Madrid. The price? Coentrao.

Above all else, I don't want Carroll's chances stunted as he's a diamond.

A move for McCarthy would probably suggest Carroll would be sent out on loan to a Premier League team for the season eh? That might be no bad thing.
As Swansea are fairly well established with plenty of money of their own and less need to loan players these days, perhaps Crystal Palace would be a good shout? He could play plenty of games there and Holloway's attacking football would suit his style. The boy needs to play somewhere if he's to reach his full potential with us at a later date.

Parker, Huddlestone and Livermore as well. They're all still here, we have to start moving them on FAST.

McCarthy would be a shrewd buy if we can manage to offload Scotty, Ploddermore and Ploddlestone.

Paulinho/Sandro/Dembele/McCarthy/Carroll gives good options for a midfield 3. Possibly throw Holtby into that mix as well.

I would definitely advocate a loan move but more importantly to a team that can offer him first team football with ideally an ethos of good passing football.

Southampton would be good but with Wanyama and Schneiderlin i'm not sure he'll start initially and same with Swansea but Palace might well be an option.

Just seen the Ellen Macarthur links...

Seems like an odd signing to me?

Unless there are serious doubts around Dembele and/or Sandro fully recovering from injuries, I don't see the point?
Unless he is signing as one for the future, but Would he really be prepared to come in as a rarely used squad player?

Unless we think we have bid for Macarthur? (still a silly signing but slightly more understandable...)

Unless I say unless one more time, in which case I will punch my own face...

If we are playing 4-3-3 Sigurdsson can also play in the midfield 3.

With Sandro, Paulinho, Dembele, Holtby, Gylfi and Carroll. As our midfield choices I really do not think McCarthy is a good idea at all tbh.
