Only want him on loan..

First game is on the 24th, so I reckon Saturday the 20th or Friday the 19th?

I think there's a friendly against Swindon on Friday. I don't know whether that's the first team or an XI though.

West Ham as well.

And why not

If we didn't have Sandro we'd keep him. We're not selling shit you know. I can see Townsend going too - he has spent an age on our books and apart from one good performance in the Carling cup he's been average...his spell at QPR was great but that was in the free role Bale owns.

If he's gonna claim a place he's got to replicate that form every (ish) week

First friendly is vs Swindon next Tuesday, first team. Then Colchester on Friday before the Barclays Asia Trophy. (y)

Not for us he's not. No denying he was literally 'perfect' for what the ex manager wanted but, and it's a big BUT, he slows us down now, stops all counter attacks, runs into blind alleys, and Pirhouetes like an extra from Black Swan. We've moved on, he can't keep up, so it's time for 'thanks & goodbye'..

Yep all that, but without Sandro we need someone who gets in the opposition's face - He at least did a good job of that and I'm not gonna forget that.

Totally agree we need him out, I also think he's not such a bad bet for a bunch of teams... and I will always remember him in Obi Mikels face

I have to believe Danny boy has it all up his sleeve or AVB may be regretting turning down PSG, this i think is why im staying cool calm and very not wrist slitty.

Agree, especially when you throw in the comments from Brad Friedel, regarding Joe Lewis saying he will be investing. Also the earlier ITK saying there will be a clear spend this summer, not just book balancing.
Not so much need for 5/6/7 signings in the £6m ish bracket. Only 3 maybe 4 at most, so the cash in the kitty doesn't have to be stretched out as much. High calibre players are not as easy to come by as squad fillers, so better we be careful than rash. Take our time, get it right. Still early, we will add. Keep the faith. AVB wanted Baldini for this task, Levy went and got him. Now lets see them get to work.

I think that from the off, AVB new (or was told) that until we have a new stadium and sponsors to help finance bigger targets that we are very much a "B" list transfer target club. I don't think i need to say anymore than that. The Modic's, VDV's and Paulinho's type deals come around but a handful of times a decade and we have been lucky this far in the transfer market in my opinion. Even if we had the zillions at our disposal would that really make the chase as exciting as it currently is each transfer window?

To me for Spurs to unearth a gem or two and seeing them develope gives me more satisfaction than just going out and taking a punt on the finished product. Ballotelli, Tevez and Suarez are the perfect example of that one i think
Quite possibly true but Chadli is definitely not A list

Pienaar imo was very unlucky, Dempsey I didn't support buying, but in the end did alright for us. Sig I didn't know much about when we bought him, but I like him, all the rest I supported us buying at the time.
The only top top quality players I've seen us secure is Modric and VDV, securing VDV was very fortunate I wouldn't count on that happen. We've spent 17 million on Pauliniho and got him early last season we bought Demebele for 15 million, who I like but imo isn't of the very highest calibre, tbh I'd rather have forgone Paulinho and Demebele and got Moutinho in last season. But that really isn't my my main complaint, my main complaint with Levy is that he keeps making the same mistakes over and over again and they are silly ones, they are avoidable ones. Maybe some people think we have a lot of time, we don't. Everything is in cycles, right now is our time and we are not really making the best of it, we don't have an automatic right to be where we are.

You need a striker to push you that bit further, you buy Rasiak, you get Saha, you chase a dude who isn't in the Brazil squad who you know you can't afford but continue trying to buy him for 3 years. The time we do get in to the CL we don't really go that bit further to make sure we stay there and you don't need to spend big money to do it, but you need to do the right scouting and make the right purchases.

You remember the other day when I said you should give Dempsey credit for the goals he scored and you told me well what about the debit he has for the games he didn't score, his misplace passes, etc?
Well, right back at ya.

But we didn't just have Saha did we, we had Adebayor & Defoe and Saha came in as a late stop gap for the last minute departing Pav. I would guess this was because, despite trying to flog Pav for a year or two that was the first time someone came in with any kind of decent offer (8m - a 5m loss I think) so we had to sell rather than risk having stuck on the payroll for ever and the logic was almost certainly Saha (who had been a very high quality striker in his prime) would provide adequate cover for a last minute departing Pav for 6 months until we could regroup and figure out where we are at in the summer window.

So you will say "then what happened that window". Let's consider our choices for striker. Damiao for 25m or Adebayor for 5m ?
That to me is a no brainer. Adebayor was the third highest goal/assist striker in europe (for us) the previous season. Even if you can't get him for the first two games, you have to be thinking that over the course of the season he's going to aggregate out more use to our team (his skil set, hold up play, proven top level experience of our league, our team,) than a brazilian kid with a very one dimensional game having his first season in a new continent. My guess is we valued Damiao (rightly so IMO) at much les than the ridiculous 25m Inter did, and when they wouldn't budge, despite no-one else coming in and giving them what they wanted, and we hoped (just like any auction process) they would have to accept a more realistic figure. When they didn't our back up became Adebayor, who for me is the far superior package (on a normal day).

What happened next was Adebayor had the most unproductive season of his career probably - but that wasn't the logical assumption, which to me was that even if he didn't have his best season, would still have been easily good enough to boost our performances over the season. Turns out Damiao hasn't set the world alight either.

As far as the Dempsey/Levy comparison goes, I don't think it's remotely close. I don't understand how anyone could look at the progress we have made under Levy and say he's cost us much or certainly more than he's gained us. Just look at where we are and what we are watching now, the training complex, the youth teams, the new stadium on it's way and tell me he's failed in his remit as a chairman of a self sustaining football club ?

Which itk said Wigan want £10m plus for McManaman?

It's been in the press a bit but had a mate (ex Everton youth team player and friends with Callum - seen the pics) said Wigan accepted a £7m bid from Sunderland last week and he turned them down.

At that price we should be going out of our way to sign him.

He's average and won't fit into a 433

It really wasn't. Remy had a free role. Townshend played on the right with some licence to cut inside. On his form of last season he can compete with Lennon, and perhaps be chosen ahead of him.

Did you watch QPR last season? He basically hugged the right wing and cut in on his left for shots.

I'm sorry but whilst you're entitled to think he's average that's utter bollocks about a 4-3-3.

He's only been in the Wigan team under half a season and spent near enough the entire time as the right forward prong of a 3-4-3

Few more stories in the press about Benteke, suggestions we'll bid £20m.
He seems to want to come and we don't seem that far apart on a fee.
Could this really happen? Daniel finally gets his £20m + striker; one that actually wants to come?

It'd certainly change the mood of a few posters & crush any argument that Andre isn't being supported.
Intriguing...
