What kind of fee are they talking about ? ? IMO he can go if the money is right, totally unplayable when on his game, but to be honest its not often enough - seems to fall out with every club, plays like a demon then gets new contract somewhere else and kicks back and relaxes again - If recent ITK is to be believed , he did piss off last year and tottled back when it pleased him after the african nations - NOT ON at all. Still maybe he was injured , will have a full pre season and kick on again, the way our striker hunt is going we better pray the latter is true :nailbiting:

I'm not sure I see this deal as a goer. Strange so little other media have ran the story. I know there are quotes from Billic etc...just don't think Ade will fancy Turkey....even if they match his wages. I think he'd rather stay even if its on the bench a lot of the time.

Europa league being a dealbreaker is odd too

I did 'agree' with your post BUT I can also see Ade literally LOVING the 'hero-worship' he'd get as soon as he hit the airport in Turkey. They go bloody crazy over there, even Kenny fucking Miller was greeted by mass hysteria, when he travelled over to sign for Bursaspor .. I think Ade & Turkey will go together brilliantly.

If we were to sell Adebayor and buy Benteke, we could realistically save about 40k/week on wages (100k/week from Ade to around 60k/week for Benteke). 40k/week over a year is 2,080,000. So, say we sell Adebayor for 5,000,000 in the end. The amount saved from the transfer fee + wages, for the next season, would be about 7,080,000 off the potential Benteke deal.

Ade likes you to pay him to leave though so we'd probably end up being afew mil in the hole

If Ade does go over there, he'd better not start playing silly buggers with them. Some of the fans are, erm, 'committed' to say the least. Or they should be.

I'm not expecting anything from him anymore but you never know. A miracle could occur and we'd get the 17 goals Ade back. We'd be cooking with gas if we do.

I read somewhere on here that Citeh are subsidising his wages still!! Do we really believe that, utter crap I'd say!
Also haven't seen anything of him in the training pictures, could this be significant?

From what I remember that is why it took so long to get him onboard last year either City had to pay out his contract or pay a cert amount of his wages, wasn't it also because he pays a substantial amount to a foundation or charity like 50% or something of the 150k+ pw

Seems I am generally in a minority here I think with a mata type buzzing around him he'd do the business next year.

It was a lump sum payment, which is what slowed down the deal because he & city couldn't agree a fee, they obviously did in the end. I think it's against league rules to continue to pay a player when he's permanently employed by another club?

I agree. Ok there were way too many times when he missed sitters, but that really just seemed like a confidence issue. The main thing he got criticised for last season was his lack of input in the game, but when you have a midfield behind you that has all the movement of a foosball table team, there's only so much you can do.

As poor as Adebayor looked last season, it's worth remembering that we didn't have a VDV player alongside him. I'd love us to bring in someone creative who could play on the left, with Ade in the centre, and Bale on the right, but if we don't, at least there were promising signs at the end of last season that Ade and Siggy might work well together.

I don't want to lose Ade either - I think he has great potential and could be an asset next season with the right set up behind him.
With that and a bit of playing confidence we could see the Ade from the season before last and I'm hoping we give him that chance.

If we let Ade go we better have a fantastic back up plan as Defoe suits a 4-3-3 as much as Welshie suit fishnets and a miniskirt.

Our squad was in desperate need of a striker overhaul. I think most would agree that a starting #9 was necessary along with a backup (preferably younger with potential) and then a WF/Emergency Striker type.

I was really hoping we would start anew and sell Defoe, Ade and Dempsey. Unfortunately, Villa not coming off at his cheap fee really has set us back and I think it might have thrown off our plans entirely. We aren't going to find a striker that can waltz into our starting lineup for that kind of money now.
