That would be Nuri Sahin and I also remember a lot of so called "football experts" from this message board slating AVB when JJ also said AVB did not rate or want Sahin.

Good shout - I remember that to, distinctly actually. I wasn't one of them by the way, I had never even seen him play...for Dortmund or Madrid.

Can't wait to see Holtby have a full pre-season and used hopefully as the attacking of the midfield 3.

And just 'relaxing' and playing his natural game, rather than trying too hard to impress & ultimately, in the eyes of a few shortsighted supporters, doing himself no favours. We only had to watch him in his recent tournament for the young German side, to see what a 'playmaker' he can be. Hopefully two out of Sandro, Dembele, Paulinho alongside/behind him, will allow him the ability to 'relax' and play to his natural strengths.

I for one have high hopes for this lad, as I do with Sigurdsson too. Push him (Sigurdsson) into a front 3, then watch him shut up many a supporter.

What they had a whip around and got the money between them?

According to Pleat the committee consists of Levy, Fruend, Baldini and AVB.

That would be fine if that’s the case.

But I thought the supposed make-up of our transfer committee was a few relics of our bad old days – Sherwood, Pleat and Rosenthal etc.
Anyone else slightly concerned that since Baldini left Roma seem to be buying some very good players?!!

Bet they are still using his lists/files. Like Chelsea are with AVB.

Siggy off the left I think would work down to a tee. I know at times he looked awkward there but he has all the right attributes minus the pace to cut in off the left side and score 10 + goals a season.

Also agreed on Holtby, everyone looks someone with passion but at times he was like a kid on a school yard; needs to channel the energy into something productive.

I still think Sigurdsson can adapt to the 3 in CM as well. 3 from Dembele, Sandro, Paulinho, Holtby or Sigg is a very good choice to have IMO and we also have Parker Hudd & Livermore for now (though I would like us to see these three and bring in Can).

All these positive vibes, we're going to win the league I can feel it!

I'm off to get: Tottenham Hotspur - 2013/2014 Premier League Champions tattooed on my face :woot:

Wouldn't mind all three of those guys sold and we brought in Leroy Fer. Very good, well-rounded midfielder that can function in multiple roles, but I always felt was best as a DM.

Talking on a tangent to winning things and as it's getting late it's more okay to go off topic. What does anyone think about a bet on Croatia to win the world cup 2018 or 2022? They have some serious talent coming through; a big dark house. They might not win it but I see them going far.

I was one of those experts. I was actually quite a bit of a turd about it, shamefully. And I rightfully accept that I was fucking mental for thinking that and probably deserve some minor infliction like an indian burn (do you guys know that term?) or maybe a really annoying funny bone knock. But notice the lack of opinion on players from me these days. I trust them on Paulinho. I trust them on whose next. I learned a humiliating but solid lesson from that.

lol, its better than crying because we haven't yet signed the best a striker that no one can agree on being suitable for us.

One thing I have learned from reading the posts about the strikers that we have been linked with is that beggars can be choosers.

Midfield and defense are minted along with Lloris in goal. So now it's just upfront to get sorted. I reckon Bale will be playing in the hole with a free role so all we need is a Carlton Cole style targetman to really complete our attack. Bobby Zamora could work too.

I think Brazil, Spain and Germany have better players that would be old enough or still young enough to be in those World Cups.

Three words that have never been said in order before, a rare thing to achieve in this day and age. Nice one!

Don't feel too bad, Liverpool played him out of position ! He's a deep lying playmaking DM type, yet they played him at AM, still a good player who will get his form back I reckon

I think Carroll needs to go out on loan and we need the 6th Mid to be more of a DM (hence why I picked Can as he is a DM that can also plat AM & CB).

As for Lee Trundle, I heard he will only move to a club in the CL.

Different people for different occasions. Youth players Sherwood would probably be in on discussions with a youth team coach but AVB and Fruend probably not.

Pleat (as European scout) would probably be consulted about players in Europe and asked his opinion or told to go and watch them.

You will probably have others (lawyers, accountants) that would do the finer details of contracts and how much is available.

These are just guesses but would make sense.

But on Talk Sport Pleat was specifically asked how the appointment of Baldini would work and he said that Levy, AVB, Fruend and Baldini would all sit down and discuss different options and between them make a decision on which players to go for.
