Yep those six would be ideal in my opinion. Sandro as the sitter with Parker back up to him and offers an experienced head + leadership. Dembele and Paulinho offer a bit of everything and then Holtby and Carroll a bit more cultured approach. Nice mix of options.

Agree. If we sign another winger and a couple of strikers with the returning Townsend I think we will be comptetive next season.

Easier said than do though - especially the strikers.

For the first time, should this scenario play out as you described, we'd have depth at every position.

He actually signed didn't he? Rumour was that scholar ripped up the contract after his gf said she didn't want to move

I heard a different story. My Dad met scholar briefly and they discussed Spurs for a bit . According to scholar Le tiss did agree to sign but it was us who had to pull the plug due to the financial shit we were in around 1990-91.

Shame as that man was born to play for spurs.

I don't think we should underestimate Townsend returning, he's more than adequate cover and I imagine will deservedly get a good share of starts next year.
Of course, I hope we sign a load of superstars and Brazilians and he can't get near the team, but in the absence of that happening... :)

I personally hope he learns from them if he is training with them, nothing to say he can and AVB has certainly shown he does isolate players and wants them to improve.

Townsend has a very good opportunity to really develop his game with the likes of these Brazilian stars around him.

Anyone doing any whoring on the other sites? I'm not able to (no access) or I would.

FWIW, Hoofharted on COYS (in response to the post by stevo1985 about agent talk in Spain, from earlier today)

Because of the AvB info to PSG is completely wrong and the ultimatum to DL I know is also wrong.

I will take the rest with a pinch of salt.

But thanks for passing on anyway.

Don't think I will risk a tenner either on Wayne Rooney to Madrid.

Higuain is most likely a goon this coming season, Villa not so sure I think we are still in ball park and have a good chance of getting him.

Would everyone be happy with Pauly and a striker, if that was it?
No, we need a attacking midfielder/wing playmaker to play on the left as much as we need a striker. Pauly would be a great addition but we are crying out for a creative number 10 like Bernard or Lamela. Nice to see Burt name them in the article, prob just mentioning them as rumours but still... Something is better then nothing and there is still time left. If we bring someone like that in along side a forward then we could be challenging top 3.

No.

Desperately need some more creativity/intelligence/nous/whatever-you-want-to-call-it in the team. If as seems likely we go 4-3-3 with a powerful midfield three then a wide forward in the vein of Mata/Silva (Bernard?) is as important in my opinion.

Then I'd want a left back.

And a back-up keeper that is similar in style to Lloris.

This please. Especially a LB.

If we indeed sign Paulinho, I cannot see a better 3 man midfield than Sandro-Dembele-Paulinho in Premier league. While the trio are not known for 50 yard precision passes, they bring in different set of skills in pressing & possession. City could come close to them, if Yaya is in form.

Apart from the striker, the other position we are vulnerable is right wing - 2 seasons now, we have struggled to bring in a replacement when Lennon is injured. He needs competition. But having said that, I wont be surprised if Bale plays in right wing forward more so often this season, in place of Lennon. What we will loose in Lennon's speed, we will gain in other areas.

We need a Left back , but we also need a right back to challenge Walker.

Ideally I would go for Nagatomo - Inter full back- excellent on both LB & RB positions. As for as Rose, I would say he has improved quite well lastseason - especially his defensive play. He is still got lots to learn - I would not sell him just yet - give him atleast half a season and see how he does.

If Paulinho signs:
Left midfield: Siggy, Carroll
Central midfield: paulinho, Sandro, Dembele, Holtby (diff styles of course)
Right midfield: Lennon, Townsend
Youth back up: Pritchard, Massimo, Nabil, Harry Winks, Ceballos

Strikers/forwards: Bale, Ade, Dempsey and one other either Villa or Benteke

Defenders: as we are with Rose being sold and Shaw bought and loaned back to Southampton

For the record: walker, naughton, smith, BAE, fryers, Dawson, Verts, caulker, Kaboul, ekong, hall

And youth strikers: coulthirst, coulibaly

Would like to see the youth lads get mixed into the squad and league, fa cup, Europa games
