There is some truth in the Vermaelen link it seems. His agent has been putting out the feelers for suitable buyers, we have shown an interest. Dont know whether Arsenal would deal with us though

I wouldn't want him tbh. He lost all confidence last season, even when Wenger stuck by him. They looked better with Koscielny and Mertebacksackandcracker at the back.

He was meant to step up and be their captain but he ended up doing us more good than them when he played.

All this palaver has affected me in more ways that I care to admit. I'm going grey, i've started having weird sexual fantasies and for some strange reason i've started eating wotsits by the case.

Anyway, toodle-pip, i've got to go see the doctor, for some strange reason, my willy has turned a disgusting orangey/yellow colour.

PS: No, that isn't a fucking cryptic.
Not cryptic, more septic.

An absolutely average player. Let us please move on now.

I keep seeing new ITK news and then finding out its about this fella, does it even constitute ITK anymore?

When will you realize that above "average" players are 20 million plus in the current transfer market? I have seen Leandro in the flesh a few times over the past two years and can say that for the talent he undoubtedly is, and for the money Inter apparently want he would be a great addition to the squad. The alternatives we already have in the shape of Defoe and Ade. But i guess you already knew that?

He was never the same after Wenger started playing him at left back during 2011/2012 season to cover their relentless defensive injuries. He looked so pissed off every time he played there - i just dont think he wants to be at the goons anymore - not saying he'd want to come to us at all - just get the impression he is not happy at the new library (then again who would be)

I'll take that, Ade this time around will have a full pre season which could make all the difference.

Why oh why are we still chasing LD? Anybody would think he is the best thing since sliced bread. If he is that feckin good, why is nobody else chasing him? Am I missing something? He has dropped down the pecking order for Brazil, Fred is now No. 1. His agent wants to give to Marseille. Is he DL love child?

Van Persie went 10 games without scoring in the league, in the season that just ended. Is he shit too?

coopsie, did I say he is shit ? You are concluding something I never said. I presented the facts & asked the question.

If he is injury prone AND if he is struggling for goals, what makes us so desperate to sign him for say 15 million pounds ?

reportedly Rodrigo at 8M and Bony is 12M... 20M pounds.

The Rodrigo price in that article last week was a farce. Here's a wee post from a mate of mine who lives in Lisbon and goes to Benfica games.....

Rodrigo has been developing extremely well, under Benfica's guidance. Last season was the "inital impact" season, and he made a fantastic rise to prominence. This year, his equally good season was somewhat overshadowed by the emergence of another great striker, 29 year-old Lima, who scored 30 official goals this season for Benfica (Cardozo scored 33). Lima's amazing form meant that Rodrigo made less starting appearances and more irregular starts and sub appearances, as Euan mentioned.

He did, nevertheless, score 11 official goals and, most of all, he lent the team his very good versatility in attack, making Benfica a very menacing and unpredictable attacking force. He's developing fast and accordingly to the great expectations there is on him.

He can play in any of the three attacking slots in a 4-3-3, or be a great mobile partner for a more target striker, in a front duo.

He's also the all-time top scorer for Spain U-21.

That price, however, is not at all right, i believe... I'd say that it would be twice that value... I'm not sure Benfica are prepared to let him leave, though. And his Release Clause is €45M...

Oooh can I butt in? Can I? ;)

Because form is temporary, class is permanent.

*Disclaimer: I have no idea wether he is 'class' or not or indeed if he is actually injury prone or just suffering from a bad trot of injury luck, but if the powers that be think so, then there's your answer.

Quality player IMO. Don't know what has gone wrong at Arsenal but they have f..ked up their best defensive player. If Kaboul is unlikely to return as he was in season 2011/2012 then Vermaelen is an excellent replacement.

I would agree for RVP. I am sorry, I dont think we are even sure Damiao is of the class we are comparing him with.
I could be wrong, but IMO simply there is nothing at the moment even to talk both of them in same line.

Wow.. 45M? Thanks for the info but I still cannot believe such a high release clause is place on a kid (when he sign it). Portuguese club had some strange practice but the players are dumb enough to be held ransome.

If we ever to sign Damiao, we should have a EUR 60M release clause slap on his face.

I refuse to believe that there isn't any more strikers in the world that can do a job for us accept that lot.

correct. contrary to popular opinion there arent only 6 suitable strikers in world football. Though all those listed should be well ahead of Leandro, should it turn out that there really are only 6.

OK, no you didn't "say" he's shit, but you "intimated" that he is, via pointing out that he hasn't scored a league goal since the 23rd Sep2012, and then pointing out that he has failed (in the 8 games) that he has been used in, because he hasn't scored. I merely pointed out that the best striker in the PL went 10 games without scoring so, be sheer association, why were Man Utd so desperate to sign him for £22mil?

Players go through spells & patches, what's to say that's not what's happening with Damiao? You may have a point, you could be spot-on. However, I personally place more faith in the scouts and the 'football experts' that have spent the last 2 years watching this lad & still believing that he is what we need. They know MUCH more than I do, so I have no choice but to go by their opinion (y)
